I noticed that it's only $20 now and I remember hearing that is was decent, not great, but decent. So I was just wondering if it's worth the $20 price tag...and just to let people know, I am not the biggest RPG fan, but I enjoy the occasional RPG. I love the SMT series and enjoy the DQ series as well...

Is It Worth $20?
I rented it a while ago, played it for about 5 hours and declared that it sucked. Might give it another go though, not sure.
I paid 'full price' for it when it came out (I worked retail at the time), and I didn't regret this. I thought the game was really fun, the combat wasn't too bad, and the story wasn't the worst I've ever seen (high praise, I know).
I paid $10 for it, and it is fun. I temporarily stopped playing it when school started getting too hectic.
It is pretty standard JRPG fare. If you played the Dragon Quest game on the PS2, then you have a pretty good idea about how this game plays. However, if you ask me, Blue Dragon is much better.
Also, for those of you who have played it, does anyone actually like the boss music? It is terrible!
You all realize that this topic was posted 8 months ago, right? By now the TC has certainly made up his mind on whether or not to purchase Blue Dragon.
Necroposting aside, If anyone who is reading this topic with any question regarding Blue Dragon being worth $20, my answer is "it depends". Certainly not original or innovative as far as the low standards of J-RPGs go, Blue Dragon also suffers from having obnoxious characters and boilerplate story. Nonetheless, there isn't anything wrong with it. If you are way into the genre, you really don't care about innovation anyways, and $20 isn't a bad price for a 60+ hour game. Nonetheless, as a member of the Giant Bomb community, I am required to say "Just get Persona"/
It's kind of cookie-cutter and exactly what you would expect, but then again it is solid, espescially if you have a soft spot for Akira Toriyama's artstyle. Uematsu's score is fantastic as well (some of it at least). Like typical JRPG's? Then yes. Need something more? Not for you.
This thread is 1 year (and?) 7 months old! I think he made up his mind by now!
" @Miasma: @Bertmasta: @xyzygy: Whaaaaaaat!? This thread is 1 year (and?) 7 months old! I think he made up his mind by now! "Haha I didn't notice that at all.
My thoughts? Blue Dragon is pretty bottom shelf JRPG fare. It's pacing is horrendous, the voice acting makes me want to harm myself and others, and the story isn't great either. The art style and graphics are nice enough to look at. Really bad achievements as well.
If you're looking for good JRPG's on the 360, pick up Tales of Vesperia if you haven't played it. It's got a really great charm to it, excellent voice acting, good looking art, and a cool story. Can't recommend that game enough, and it's only ten or fifteen bucks more than Blue Dragon.
