The game is for 1-4 players and leans towards TV murder mysteries with "witnesses, alibis and motives" rather than being a logic puzzle like Cluedo. When playing the game solo, the player can pick from any one of the four members of the Blue Toad Detective Agency.
The gameplay comes from moving around the town of Little Riddle and solving crimes related to the plot, while investigating suspects, in order to try and solve the mystery of the episode. After each event within the episode, the player is questioned by the Chief Inspector on events so far to see if the player is keeping up.
At the end of the episode, the player is asked to select which character they think is the culprit, based on the clues they discovered throughout the episode.
Blue Toad Detective Agency
Armed with a sharp mind and astounding problem solving skills, Lambert was one of the first members of the Blue Toad Detective Agency.
Miss Marjorie Maple
Although she looks like a helpless old lady dressed in a purple twin-set, Miss Maple is a well seasoned detective and the bane of criminals everywhere.
The newest addition to the Agency, Dakota received her invitation due to her ingenius solving of the Dilemma of the Discordant Debutant.
Richard 'Dick' Dickens
Young Dick, credit to British public schools everywhere, has a dazzling career ahead of him thanks to the tutoring of fellow Blue Toad detectives.
Not a playable character, Watson is a dog that is dispatched by the Blue Toad Detective Agency to help the player with tough puzzles where his keen nose might be of use.
