The game will attempt to move away from the clinical and precise nature of many, more sim-like racers, that force the player to work within strict time limits and perform inch-perfect turns, and will move towards a more fun and enjoyable experience that will reward experimentation. Progress through the game is influenced by 'Fan Points', a new version of Project Gotham's Kudos system, awarded for good racing and use of powerups after each race. The idea is that the more skilled you are, the more fans you attain and the more money they donate to you, allowing you can upgrade your car further and move onto other circuits.
Blur is being designed to tie closely with the game's website, and will also integrate with popular social networking sites like Facebook, Myspace and Twitter to post race results as soon as they are completed. It's menu and hub system is a fictional social networking site, where players and NPC drivers communicate with each other to organise the street races and progress the story.
In multiplayer the same or similar networking system will be used to create races and groups with particular settings. The game is planned to feature 4 player split-screen multiplayer locally, or up to 20 player races online.

Bizarre Creations' Blur mixes the driving of the Gotham series with explosive weaponry and allows players race up to 20 other opponents.
Concept
Blur is an upcoming racing game that will feature stylish racing in realistic locations and 50 real-world cars fighting it out using power-ups and speed boosts, it will also feature realistic car damage modelling. One Activision exec has described it as “Mario Kart" meets Forza”. Unlike many of the games that currently feature power-ups, Blur will still rely strongly on it's realistic physics model and Bizarre's Ben Ward has stated "Blur isn't about the power-ups, it's about your ability to drive with power-ups augmenting that".The game will attempt to move away from the clinical and precise nature of many, more sim-like racers, that force the player to work within strict time limits and perform inch-perfect turns, and will move towards a more fun and enjoyable experience that will reward experimentation. Locations
Races take place in 14 locations at night or dusk through 'remixed' versions of cities such as London, San Francisco, and Barcelona. Many of these locations will be the same as those featured in the Project Gotham games. However unlike PGR which showed some of the most recognisable tourist spots and landmarks, Blur will take players to much grittier locations to suit the pace and feel of the game. Each track will feature alternative routes and shortcuts.Known locations are:
- LA
- London
- Tokoyo
- Barcelona
- San Francisco
- New York
Power-ups
Blur features vehicle combat using powerups collected along the race track. It seems you can hold more than one powerup at once - up to five depending on purchased upgrades - and they can be cycled using the shoulder buttons. It may also be possible to stack multiples of the same powerup to use in quick succession.Power-ups revealed so far are:
- Shock - an attack with an area of effect
- Barge - a wave of energy from either side of your car to knock opponents away or into the side of the track
- Shunt - a wave of energy from the front of your car to knock opponents off track
- Shield burst - when timed correctly this can be used to protect your car from attack (always active)
- Nitro - a speed boost
- Mines - self explanatory
- Repair - recovers car damage
