This has happened to me a few times... I finish a quest in an area, lets say the Roland stuff around lvl 12-14.. then Immediately after I get a quest to go back to the same area, having to fight through the same fights and etc.. I feel like maybe I should of had those quests before? but I'm pretty sure they didn't unlock until after certain things I have done in that area. This has happened a few times... burning the midget in the starting area, at the one bandit ship is one I can think of too.

When you finish a story mission, often you will get side quests that take you back to already visited areas. Enemies respawn whenever you leave and reenter an area.

Yeah they are given once you've handed story missions in. As well as the odd side mission in the new area, you might get a mission or two in the one you've just come from. Usually in areas that you might not have wandered into unless you are of the mind to amble about filling in the map.

That does happen that's why it's best to find out what missions you can do in that area and do them all at once.

No, you are doing nothing wrong. It's just lazy design in an otherwise great game. I'm also getting annoyed by that (as I already mentioned, the "MatchStick" quest has to be one of the biggest offenders here)

I thought I was the only one that was sick to my stomach the hours it took me to complete that piece of shit quest. Then I go online and boom, EVERYONE hates that shit. It is a poor design problem coupled with a just as terrible map. I still love the game thought, but alot of changes could have made it into a masterpiece. Such as,maybe, an in-game way to earn Golden Keys. Maybe incredible fetch quests, or hard boss encounters, I dont know.

Boss encounters are pretty hard. I have had 2 out of 5 kick my ass.

Fire guys quests are terrible. Both the ship related one and the enkindling one after. I didn't do the enkindling when I saw how much backtracking was necessary to get to the quest marker.

Just did Tannis' pizza quest (awesome). Along the way in there is an additional quest you find in the area involving a robot part; again lengthy backtracking into an area you likely just slogged through for story purposes.

I agree, there's nothing about these quests that requires they be given after the story mission that uses the same area aside from poor design or stretching for gameplay length. Which this game doesn't even need.
