What are some of your favorite references (to pop culture, other games, etc) that you've found so far? I'm sure there's a lot and I'm curious as to what people have picked up on. So far, I've caught two of my favorite shows:

    1) The guy working in the news stand in Sanctuary saying "There's always money in the news stand," a reference to the quote "There's always money in the Banana Stand" in Arrested Development.

    2) Some random Psycho yelling "I am the one who knocks!" while charging at me, a direct quote from Walter White in season four of Breaking Bad.

The TMNT quest where you kill the 'Splinters' was pretty good. There's also a quest you get by killing a stalker, which drops a box for you to collect, in the Wildlife Preservation area with the quest description of ''What's in the booooooox?!''.

Also there's a neat callback to the original Borderlands, where if you return to where you fought Bloodwing, Mothrakk's offspring will show up. Which in itself is still a reference to Mothra, so it should still count :P

It's either the Psychos occasionally reciting the entire first soliloquy from Hamlet, or the respawn terminal saying 'Rise from your grave!' occasionally when you respawn.

Rakkman Forever and the rakk adds that he spawns with onomotopeia.

When I heard the respawn terminal say this it was doubly awesome, as I had an Altered Beast class mod equipped on my Gunzerker.

I just did that, and it wasn't too amazing to my disappointment.. You just take

the pizza down there, they jump out and you kill 'em. They don't even say anything!

Also the fact that the god damned enemies respawn all the time INCLUDING THE MINI BOSS of that area made me totally hate that quest!

@AhmadMetallic: They don't say much, in fact they barely utter a sentence. But there's plenty of ''Woh, dude!'' and ''Radical!'' thrown in there during combat, which was enough for me. My funny bone left satisfied.

@AhmadMetallic: I guess it depends on how attached you were to TMNT. Get a pizza, go to the sewers, hear them speak all "whoa dude" on the speaker and then seeing all of their names (lee, ralph, mitch, dan) was enough to make me giggle like a child.

My favourite reference was the Good, the Bad and the Ugly reference. The Trexican Standoff on the third strike of the bell was pretty awesome.

I'm sure there is a ton more but I can't think of any right now.

I think someone already mentioned it but there is a a box that a stalker drops after you kill it and the description it says "WHATS IN THE BOX!?!" that made me crack up and throughout that mission I proceded to say that over and over again.

And then Bonehead 2.0 was also good

To be honest it took me a bit too long to notice that it's a TMNT reference so yeah I guess that one flew over my head since I wasn't into TMNT as a kid. I do remember the Whoa Dude part though!

"Welcome to die!" and "I'm the one who knocks!" are my favorites. Especially "I'm the one who knocks", because it makes me imagine Vince Gilligan repaying the reference by writing a spinoff in which Walter and Claptrap team up and anger a Truxican cartel.

I just really dig all the crazy crap npc's and enemies (especially the psycho's) will yell at you. The random dialog is a lot funnier this time around. Quest wise it was definitely the top gun mission, when I played it in multiplayer the dude I co op with the most even has a iceman quote in his steam profile so of course we were throwing out one liners galore during the whole thing.

For me it were the 3 most obvious reverences of them all.

    Kinda a late game spoiler.

Going back the the starting area of the first game and realising what it was, finding the secret claptrap still there and getting to him again, and looting the very first gun chest in the original game on top of the bus station.

It's crazy cause I did that TMNT quest and it completely didn't click with me. The sewers, the pizza, the hangout, the 4 doods. Seems so obvious now but in a way it's how I approach Borderlands - I've been trying to concentrate more on the quest descriptions but more often than not I just end up skimming it and then going to quest marker in order to kill everything there.

I liked the Top gun reference and the Good the Bad and the Ugly reference. Were the people you have the standoff with related to that movie any way? Like their names? Like how Loggins from the Top gun quest is obviously a reference to the musician Kenny Loggins.

It is in (spoliered for those who don't want to know)

the Caustic Caverns waaay to the east past the Chrysalid named Blue.

You have to be able to cross some gnarly acid, and it is out there near a suspicious tree. I could do it as a Gunzerker, but I dunno about other classes.

I've seen some shields with corrosive resistance and immunity from other elements so that might be enough for a Siren like me. I also have some regenerative abilities in skills, but I haven't put points in them. I guess I'll try it later myself (saw youtube video).

It has been mentioned in this thread a lot, but I loved the TMNT quest for Tannis as well. It is the only time so far that I have turned off whatever I've been listening to or watching on the side because I had heard such great things about it.

The mission itself was kind of bland, but Tannis' dialogue was awesome. A lot of her VO was a reworking of the theme from the 90s cartoon, which brought back so many memories, and got me to laugh.

    2) Some random Psycho yelling "I am the one who knocks!" while charging at me, a direct quote from Walter White in season four of Breaking Bad.

That! I loved that moment xD

I also agree. I was actually surprised when I heard it then I thought "Awesome!" As for the TMNT reference, I think it was pretty cool. I mean they can't put on a clip of them saying stuff from the series. Other than that, almost the entire Fyrestone area that makes a re-appearance. I love that they made a throwback to the first game. Nostalgia.

Oh and as previously mentioned The Good, The Bad and The Mordecai was awesome.
