Didn't like the original - Loved the sequel. 2

    F. Scott Fitzgerald once wrote “there are no second acts in American lives.” While Borderlands 2 doesn’t have much in common with the Great Gatsby they do share the singular link of offering second chances. If you weren’t swayed by the original and are unsure what to make of this bombastic sequel then I urge you to take a chance. Fitzgerald went on to become one of America's greatest writers of the 20th century, and who knows, Borderlands 2 just might become one of your favorite games of 2012.Pa...

    A Better Borderlands. 0

Borderlands 2 is not a game I expected to spend much time with. The first Borderlands was interesting for a few hours but quickly devolved into nothing more than an MMO style grind. The quests, characters, and story never became interesting to me. I am able to perceive that it would have been a good time in a co-op setting but I was never in position to play it that way. Instead of using story to propel you forward it relied heavily on its loot mechanic to keep your interest.I find myself less a...

Easily the best game this year 0

Some people tout this game as being a mere extension of the first game. In many ways they are right, but in many more ways, they are dead fucking wrong.Borderlands 1 was a surprise hit, taking Gearbox to a new level of game design. It was a FPS based around loot - an uncommon concept that was executed in a moderately good way. There was a great deal of variety in the randomized weapons, but a lot of them were very similar to other ones. The randomization system was impressive and lackluster all ...

Borderlands 2 is a FPS RPG that is a sequel from 2009′s Borderlands. It takes everything the original Borderlands does, and makes incremental improvements but doesn’t change enough to make it a revolutionary game. It is a very safe sequel that continues to have many of the problems that the original had.How does Borderlands 2 play? The main gameplay of Borderlands 2 is a first person shooter. You use some regular types of guns like pistols, assault rifles, shotguns and other guns but each gun is ...

Shoot and Loot, what a HOOT! 2

So I've been playing this game called Borderlands 2...and IT’S AWESOME’, is what I'm inclined to say and I'm going to try and reign myself in here. This way I can try and articulate a piece of writing, that doesn't show me to be some rabid fan-boy.The fact of the matter is this; I’m not a fan-boy. I didn’t highly anticipate the game until very close to its release. I’d always been intrigued by the first Borderlands but something about it scared me off. I think that stems from the fact that in t...

Congenital hindsights and neurotic dialog with Borderlands 2 0

In a systematic manner, Gearbox the developers of Borderlands 2 have iterated on their originally revolutionary idea, and conceived a sequel that despite a ton of polish doesn’t quite hack it. The game is riddled with the worst of MMO game design, ie yo-yoing, and contains shared loot which is about as old-fashioned of a farce to co-op RPGs as you can get. These hindsights do not ruin the game, they just make the experience of co-op undesirable since the enemies scale to your level. You are bett...

Lets just get to the chase here, Borderlands 2 is simply a stunning game. Not a life changing event or anything but easily recommended in the hours of fun department. It's the original Borderlands with an actual story backed by great vocals and more. If guns are your thing than Borderlands 2 should bought with two hands and a foot. There are simply thousands of guns, customized grenades, character upgrades and amazingly enough they all feel different and great in their own ways. The best and wor...

    Extremely fun and innovative 0

When the original Borderlands came out, I played the shit out of it. So when Gearbox announced the inevitable Borderlands 2 I was undoubtedly the most excited I have ever been for a game in my entire life. I am incredibly happy to say that Borderlands 2 delivers on all fronts. The visuals are the same gorgeous cell-shaded visuals from the first game, there are at least 1000+ different varieties of guns that all look and feel different, the graphics have been improved, there is at least 100 hour...

Borderlands 2, More Guns, More Fun 0

There are games that give you power, there are games that give you control and then there are games that are utterly insane. Yes, Borderlands 2 is one of them!Borderlands 2 is the sequel of one of the few successful Shoot 'n Loot games of the last decade.Like in the last game you are a vault hunter, a warrior with special skills that seeks the treasures inside the legendary Vault of Pandora! The basic mechanics are very similar to the prequel with some new features and a lot more stuff going on. ...

More stats and variations on the weapons gives the combat a little more flair in Borderlands 2 Borderlands' vast array of weapons and fun co-op play was what made it fun and exciting. But its generic firefights and setting held it back from becoming more than just a fun replacement for Left 4 Dead. For its sequel, developer Gearbox Software set out to fix the problems that plague the original concept and make it a much more filled out and enjoyable experience. In Borderlands 2 Gearbox not only im...

I'm didn't pre order Borderlands 2 so I didn't recieve the Mechromancer when it came out. But hey, I love this game so I bought this DLC. Was it worth it?Yes and No.Yes because it adds a whole new awesome (and overpowered) class, Gaige is freacking cute, Deathtrap is a deadly wonderful machine of death and it adds some new items to the game.No because as of now Deathtrap is bugged as Hell, Clipping issues, Menu obstructing and sometimes he stars making a sound and it won't stop until he goes awa...

You're going to have to take your killing spirit and talents to the land of Pandora. You'll be playing the part of a Vault Hunter who is seeking the legendary vault that holds something that could change the course of history. The only problem is you're going to have to battle a man by the name of Handsome Jack, who has an endless supply of resources and likes to see others squirm. If you think you're up for the challenge then pick your poison as either a Siren, Assassin, Gunzerker, or Soldier....

    Drug addicts, rejoice. 0

Confound you Borderlands 2!Borderlands 2 has proven successful at re-installing the neurotic schizophrenia, crack addicting, zombie hoard brain activity amid my cortex.(Not joking) Going out into the street and purchasing drugs would be an equal equivolent; and a temporarily working distraction from this virtual heroin. The severity of my overall lack of Vitamin D is abysmal and my ethnicity is now part bed sheet. Yeah, it can be that addictive. But simultaneously it can prove to be a misstep in...

Funny but falls short of the praise and hype 0

Borderlands is game of the “shoot and loot” variety with a wicked sense of humor, an unprecedented number of guns, and a snarky well written villain who you will love to hate. I really wanted to like the game more but the overly repetitive gameplay, excessive backtracking, lackluster narrative and character development held the game back. Set several years after the original Borderlands, you play as a “vault hunter” who, as the name suggests, hunts for vaults. Vault hunte...

    Pandemonium on Pandora 0

I did not enjoy Borderlands. I thought the intro was great, and found the concept intriguing, but the whole experience felt empty and tiresome. I got about 4 hours in before putting it down for good.Fast forward to Borderlands 2, and you have something quite different. The core elements of the gameplay are the same; it's a Diablo/Torchlight-esque procedurally-generated-loot fest, but first person and with guns instead of swords. You pick up quests from people with exclamation marks over their he...

It’s the relatively common dilemma of the modern world. Well, if you are anything at all like three of my friends and I. Picture this scenario for me, if you will; You and your buddies have decided that, shockingly, the weather is far too poor to venture out to entertain yourselves, and of course that is the sole reason you all agree to stay inside and find a video game to play together. Were the 100mph ice wind not preventing that thrilling jog through the park, or if one had been able to locat...

Borderlands 2 Review: No Rest For The Wicked 2

2009's Borderlands was a game that released among a torrent of major titles and managed to be one of the most refreshing and fun experiences of that year. Gearbox's loot driven shooter was an underdog in its first iteration but Borderlands 2 comes with a lot more expectation on its shoulders. In a genre filled with games that are competing for the same modern realistic shooter space its great to see Gearbox develop a game that throws all that out the window and replace it with madness and colour...

Borderlands 2: Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep review. 0

Like magical swords, walking skeletons, giant fire breathing dragons… like magical fantasy? If you answered yes, than Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep might just be for you. The latest piece of downloadable content for Gearbox Software's loot filled shooter Borderlands 2, it's also the last piece of content made available for free for those with the season pass. Looking back over what's been released as part of this season pass, it's been solid if unspectacular. Yet make no doubt about it, wit...

Mr Torgue's Campaign of Carnage is more content for Borderlands 2, not that I'm complaining. Gearbox Software's stupendous loot driven shooter was one of my favorite games of last year and I welcome any chance to return to Pandora, hell I never left. This time round your vault hunting hero is tasked with becoming the champion of the campaign of carnage, a violent and savage tournament set up by Mr Torgue, founder of the weapons manufacturer of the same name. This being Borderlands there's still ...

Alright so this is the first DLC release for Borderlands 2 and takes you to the lovely city of Oasis where you'll meet a very interesting character that will be watching everything you do in the area. He'll tell you of a captain searching for the lost treasure of Captain Blade. You'll have to find the missing pieces to his famous compass to reveal the location, but of course there will be a ton of bad guys standing in your way. If you want explosions and a desert area with pirate themes galore ...

    Long boring/silly shooter 0

I enjoyed the characters (they weren't nearly as annoying/overbearing/prevalent as I had expected based on the buzz around this game).Combat was boring/monotonous, typical shooter, but it's worse here because the game is so long.Story was insignificant at best.I liked the look of the game, good style, some screen tearing though. The loot in this game really sucked, much the same way Diablo 3 was, good stuff never dropped, inventory always full of crap, the only good weapons came from golden keys,...

    Striving For Mediocrity 4

The game itself kind of suffers from one recurring problem, which is an extremely long and trivial experience that feels more like DLC and product than a gaming experience. The very long main story overstays its welcome by many hours, at times near the end I felt like I just wanted the thing to be done with. While the game has some good plot moments with vibarant characters, I tended to simply ignore most of them as the amazingly annoying sitcom-styled humor that is sometimes corny and sometimes...

Borderlands 2 is a game that gets just about everything right, including the two most important parts of an Action RPG, the Action and the RPG both of which are superb in this game.Unlike a lot of games where all the guns only serve as a means to kill the enemy, in Borderlands 2 each type of gun is significantly different to the others to give you reason to choose whether to use the pistol or the sniper, this becomes even more varied with the different weapon manufacturers which gives all the we...

    Borderlands 2.0 0

This game is Borderlands 2.0 in every sense. Gearbox had the technology and they improved upon the original Borderlands in gameplay, story, and badassery! (Yes, I know it's overused in the game and yes, I'm going to use it anyways)The new classes feel more balanced than their 1.0 equivalents. The class system once again, puts an interesting spin on the FPS-genre as each class's skill-set is designed to break the mold of your modern shooter. Your basic 4 skills as each class are as follows: turre...

    A definite highlight of 2012 0

Like a lot of sequels, Borderlands 2 doesn't have to re-invent itself just to set it apart from everything out there. A shooter with RPG elements, class-based characters with unique skill trees and millions of guns is pretty far from what most competitors are doing. Yet at the same time, the familiarity of this series is always apparent yet somehow it never feels a copy-and-paste job or "phoning it in". Practically every issue (save one) has been addressed, story's more to the forefront and skil...

Borderlands 2 is an FPS in which you get to choose one of 6 classes: Commando, Gunzerker, Siren, Assassin, Mechromancer, or Psycho. It isn't a perfect game but it is a very fun game. Even after you finish the main storyline there is lots more to do. Pros: More than one playthrough. The first playthrough is Normal Vault Hunter Mode. After that is True Vault Hunter Mode, which has more difficult enemies. Then there is Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode. In UVHM the enemies scale to your level. However, ...

9! 24! 58! 100! 500! 1000! Critical! Is there a better visual barometer for satisfaction in videogames than damage numbers popping out of an enemy’s bullet-riddled head? The original Borderlands revelled in this instant gratification, complementing this core conceit with a ‘bazillion’ guns, tight shooting, addictive loot and a droll sense of humour. There’s little wonder why it was such a surprise hit back in 2009, and just as unsurprising that we’re back on the bombastic world of Pandora for Bo...

I did not play Borderlands when it came out originally, I only picked it up weeks before the release of Borderlands 2. I ended up playing it through to completion, I really enjoyed my time with it. Sure it didn't have a story and it got quite repetitive, the gameplay was rock solid and for that I loved it. So I beat Borderlands in the evening, I told myself I would wait a few months before I buy Borderlands 2, so I would not burn myself out. The next morning, I went straight to the shops and pic...

Developer: Gearbox Software (Famous for: Borderlands/Brothers In Arms)Publisher: 2K GamesLet’s just get this out in the open. There is absolutely nothing remarkable about Borderlands 2. If we take each aspect of the experience and evaluate them on their own merits, nothing that it has to offer is especially brilliant. Borderlands was a game that was full of action, co-op play, loot collecting, and tons of guns. While the game had its share of shortcomings in a few areas, it was still one my favorite games of 2009. Gearbox Software created a new genre with the release of the first Borderlands. For the first time, Gearbox managed to successfully blend RPG elements with FPS gameplay and the result was a massive cult hit. The game was mostly regarded as widely successful with a few minor gripes and Gearbox now returns with Borderlands 2. Have they managed to improve on the first Borderlands? Let's find out.Re...

    A significantly improved experience 0

Who would have thought a shooter advertised around a small, chatty robot quick to anger would do so well? Borderlands was a shooter that took me by surprise because, well, it wasn't so much a shooter as it was an MMO-style role playing game with a heavy emphasis on loot and a great sense of humor. For me, Borderlands' biggest failing was its lack of a meaningful narrative and throw away characters. It was easy for me to just run up to a quest giver, accept the mission and run off before they had...

I think the title speaks for itself. I would have loved to give this game the full five stars, but unfortunately there are some glitches that makes that impossible. Just because there are glitches doesn't mean this game is bad. It is not. At times you will get stuck between rocks, and 'spaz' out as you try to jump (and jump) to sweet freedom just to realize your stuck and there is nothing really you can do about it. Gearbox was pretty prepared for this though as you can go to your menu and go to...

    Good Value at $5 0

I thought that $10 was too much to ask for the Mechromancer and the minor loot that came with the pre-order bonuses, so I waited, and I'm glad that I did. 2K dropped the price of this DLC to $5 in early January, which was a good price for the content that it provides. The character is very powerful, and fun to play as, with skill trees that offer a great variety of gameplay....

    Strong Char/Bad Value 0

Title says it all, this is a fun character feels very strong at least for what I've played so far but I don't really think this was the best use of my ten dollars in retrospect. It would of been nice to see and achievement associated with this new character as well, like the existing characters have, but even then this would still be (ideally) a $5-7 purchase in my view....
