    I want to buy the DLC from steam, but I don't have the steam version of borderlands. Does this mean I wont be able to use the DLC?

    But you least have a PC version right? If so then yeah the DLC will still work.

    Really? I assumed all steam stuff was specific to the Steam platform. Well that's interesting.

    It says you need to have the game on steam. And with every other game on there, the dlc and expansions require you to have the game on steam for them to work.
