Concept »
Anytime an ally comes in to help you in any way. This mechanic is most common in fighting games.
During boss battles, sometimes the boss kills their own henchmen. This concept is often used as a way of demonstrating a boss' wrath.
A level that is focused entirely on a boss encounter.
Brought to Al-Khali by the disfigured Bishop Maltheus St. Claire, their innocence were meant to protect them against the Saracen "Infidels". Instead they were massacred, and their souls now linger in eternal damnation within the walls of Jericho.
A clone is a being created as a perfect genetic duplicate of another being, right down to the DNA.
Bad things come in twos. In video games you will often run into two villains who are inseparable and you will inevitably have to fight both of them at once.
An enemy that uses a spell or a skill to multiply and add another enemy to fight
Henchmen are the loyal grunts caught in between the player and the main antagonist. Without them every game would be nothing more than a boss battle.
A Human Shield is a form of cover in which a player uses a body to absorb damage like that of a shield. It's usually found in first and third-person shooters.
A lich is a powerful sorcerer who became undead through a magical ritual they cast on themselves. Usually lichdom is achieved to extend their "lives" or give themselves more power. They can control vast hordes of undead.
Mecha-Koopas are small mechanical versions of Bowser himself.
A boss fight in which the player must not only battle the actual boss, but must also defeat or defend against auxiliary enemies.
Necromancers are spell casters who specializes in conjuring and controlling the undead.
An ice-borne enemy species in Metroid Prime. Sheegoth are native to Tallon IV in the Phendrana Drifts area.
Shy Guys are masked hoodlums of the Mushroom Universe.
A boss that doesn't move around during battle. It will instead use other means to "reach" the player.
Enemies that are small, deal relatively low damage, and have low health, but make up for it by attacking in large numbers. Examples include Flood infection forms from Halo, Trites from Doom 3, or Crawlers from Resistance: Fall of Man.
