Price isn't the problem with Braid...its MS point system...

I truly believe the price wouldn't be a problem if Microsoft points weren't so damn stupid. You can't just buy 1200 points. The closest you can get to that is to purchase 1000 points and then 600 points. You have to spend 18 dollars just to spend 15 on XBL. Leaving you with points left over that you may not have even wanted. That's so damn retarded and makes buying more expensive games like Braid a pain in the ass. The game is worth the money I just think MS puts too many hurdles in the way to make the purchase easier on our wallets.

I completely agree - I can't believe MS gets away with their stupid points system. The PSN system of just listing the price in real money is way better.

I agree, I think the MS Points system is ridiculous.  It doesn't makes sense for people who buy an arcade game every few weeks and don't care about gamerpics.  Which is most of us.

OMG R U C-RIUS?!?!?!

This has been going on for a long time, and yes it is stupid.  Going to an i-tunes styled credit card system would be doing customers a favor.

But they don't want to do customers a favor because they invest those extra dollars that you don't immediately spend.

It's the same reason companies who charge monthly prefer to auto-draft from your account, and will sometimes incentivize it.
They hope you'll forget, and enough people do to make it far more immediately profitable than any other business model.

I still love my 360, and have learned to combine my extra points into other purchases, which is exactly what they want, but I find
it hard to argue when there are so many things on the service worth my hard-earned dollars.

I'm good sheeple I guess.

I couldn't agree more, I think it's inentional though leaving you with a few points left so you simply have to buy more.

Glad so many agree. I practically had to force myself to buy all those points cause Braid was just too enticing.Normally I wouldn't have bothered. 15 bucks it not alot of money for a game this good. But buying two sets of points for  that price really grinds my gears.

I truly believe the mentality of "braid costs too much" wouldn't be so wide spread if buying it was simpler. 15 dollars in and out. No change.

Of course it's stupid...the points system isn't the problem, but the ways you can buy points. You can't just buy however many points you want. They only come in their different variants and if you want to be able to have nothing left over you have to actually buy a physical card. Though I think you can purchase 2000MS points through live which would essentially be one 1200pt and one 800pt game. Though it could be 2500MS points, which would make everything I just said meaningless :P

It would be cool if the system got a change with the new dashboard update...what? I can wish can't I!?

It doesn't bother me. There's enough good stuff on that store.

I just buy 400 points worth of gamerpics to reach a nice even number.

I buy my points in large blocks so I always have some when something comes out I want to buy. I typically carry a point balance anywhere between a few hundred and a few thousand...when I need more points, I buy more.  I don't see what the big deal is.

I don't think this is a big deal, but it is a deal. MS could just let you buy any amount of points, but they don't. Points themselves aren't totally bad, as you can give the same price worldwide, through the disconnect from real currency, but this disonnect also makes it easier to buy stuff you don't really need/want. Anyway, I haven't had a problem with the points system yet personally, but I see your point. BUT the nice Americans around here can buy Points at better increments at the Zune store. No need to install software or anything, just go to the zune site. It's neat from what I hear, as you can actually buy 400 and 800 Points.

" this disonnect also makes it easier to buy stuff you don't really need/want"

Disregarding my earlier joke about gamerpics, this is the problem entirely.  You can't blame Microsoft or the Braid devs because of your lack of willpower.

Yeah that pisses me off that they don't have a 1200 point option.

It's stupid but we keep on buying the points cause we want the games. Honestly, if we only had put our foot down on the obviously pro-MC, con-gamer point system when they first unveiled it we wouldn't be in this mess. They're not gonna change it now. Why would they pass up an extra 3 bucks everytime we purchase points?

They wanted to create a unified service. They didn't want to deal with conversions and all that nonsense.

Directions:

1) Go to store.
2) Buy 20 dollar 1600 point marketplace card (often available for 15 dollars)
3) Go home, use card, and quit complaining.

Yeah, I don't like the idea of leaving left over points, but at the same time, the difference is only about £1 here and there, so I don't feel too bad about it.
