    In the video game, Brendan is the male selectable character (although, he can be named whatever the player feels like). When as the player, Brendan's father is Norman, the 5th gym leader. if the player chooses to play as the female character, May, then Brendan is the player's rival, and his father is Prof. Birch.

    However, unlike May, Brendan has not made an appearance in the anime, but has made a few cameo is the movies.
