Doom is anti-female.

A lot of games are apparently anti-female, which is a shame because I like having female characters (typically their body mass is slightly smaller than their male counterparts; meaning it gives me a bit more of a edge in dodging shit).

Sims 3 is anti-male.

Start a boycott (read:DO A BARRELL ROLLL).

She has a point.  It's meant to be game where you can create characters with the purpose of playing them online.  To not have any female build capability is insulting when games have a much broader demographic break these days.  Shame on Splash Damage.

There are so many games where you can't play as a female character, why make it sound like a negative for one over all others? Almost every shooter ever.

As true as that is Brink sets a pretty bad precedent for Bethesda who have always had a female character build in their own games.  I suppose they could say that this is balanced out by Wet only having a female lead.  Still, I can see why this would be annoying for some people.

I'll give you that it is a little insulting, But it's not Anti-Female. 
  RapeLay, Rumble Roses, Ect, Ect... are Anti-female (to different degrees)
But really the reason is pretty simple, For years now their primary demographic has been male (By a large margin)
It's only in recent years that there has really been a large surge in female players, And some devs haven't yet realized the potential of this market. And continue to pump out action games for the boys, leaving the "Barbie" games to other devs. Not even realizing that they are slowly alienating this new and growing market.  But be sure it won't be long before they realize, What alot of devs already have.

 Oh Ubisoft, I am sad you have your name on this, and I love you. Well at least I did. I was looking forward to Splinter Cell: Conviction coming out. The game premise seems fun. But seeing some gameplay footage, it was plainly clear that it's a serious sausage fest. So I look up some info on this, and as it turns out, nope you can't play a female, because apparently making women in a game is too hard. However, they sure can make some dudes that look like Easter Island statues. Great job!

In this day and age it does feel a bit restrictive when you can't play a female character in a game with character creation, however I think "restrictive" is really as strong a criticism as you can apply to something like this. As people have said above there are plenty of games which feature few to no females, that's by no means evidence to say that these games have anything against females.

I'd say the biggest reasons that you aren't going to see many female characters in game are because:
 1.)Woman have generally never been allowed in the army until now, even now they can't go into the frontlines because of random shit..
 2.)People are always getting offended, they might make the character look bad in someway or something.
3.) I don't really care if they give character that are customizable (Male/female) and look different in an online shooter, I'm still going to shoot them.
