It seems cool, has a few unique ideas, but won't be caught on with the general public?
Brink

A multiplayer-focused, class-based first-person shooter running on id Tech 4, in which oppressive soldiers and anarchistic terrorists battle for the few remaining resources on a failed paradise known as the Ark.
Does anyone else fear tha this may become another Shadowrun?
Seems that Shadowrun being mostly online kinda hampered it, with this I think it should do moderately good but it seems that once it's out word of mouth is going to really help pushing it forward. Lately with not a lot of new FPS multiplayer games coming out might help this one out for a while.
I'm pretty sure that unless word of mouth etc. spreads awareness of Brink, they yes, it will turn into another Shadowrun.
I expect Brink to be far more successful. It's actually got a marketing budget for one, and I think it appeals to a core audience far better than Shadowrun ever did. I do see some parallels, but I suspect this will have a healthy player base for a good long time, and I expect it to be supported well.
For the record, I played a whole lot of Shadowrun and I enjoyed it a tonne. There was a lot of fun to be had once you got comfortable with the mechanics and controls.
Brink seems to have a LOT more content for online and offline players. So even if the online community dies quickly, there's still a ton to do (unlocks, campaign, skirmishes with bots) instead of the same few maps playing with the same exact pre-set rules (stupid idea).
Shadowrun was an awesome game, but full retail price for such a small, multiplayer-only game killed it. I rented it, has a blast with it and possibly would've bought it if it had been more like 25-30 bucks.
Hopefully Brink won't suffer from Shadowrun's severe lack of content.
it's really hard to decide with this one. it fucks with my mind everytime i think about it!
" Shadowrun was shit, Brink looks way better. "
I will tolerate a lot. But I will NOT tolerate Shadowrun being called shit.
Shadowrun was and is awesome. It is almost wholly unique as a FPS on the 360. A game which emphasises environmental movement and secondary powers over and above point and click shooting.
Yes it was rushed as a game, needed more maps, more guns, better graphics but that should not distract from what it did do right. I'd rather play Shadowrun over Halo, Battlefield or COD any day of the week.
Good day to you, sir.
Yup, Shadowrun is great fun. Nothing like teleporting through a wall to shotgun a flying dwarf in the face whilst a Troll with a cybernetic eye and a katana watches from afar." @Axxol said:

...That game was weird.
" I do, however, think that Brink will do way better than Shadowrun did in terms of content, public perception, and overall quality.that's probably true

" I haven't played Brink yet but what I can tell you about Shadowrun is that it was just a bad game and the word about it being a bad game spread quickly. My thoughts exactly, and pre-order numbers seem to be hinting the games potential console failure, hopefully it becomes a hit on PC, it seems to really deserve it and it isn't the type of game you would get much out of by pirating. If Brink fails, it'll probably be more of a failure of marketing or general public disinterest."
I already bought the game in full and hope the developers do well, they seem like a great team of people trying to make a great MP experience.
This game is just soo much deeper. And there's so many options as to how you wanna play it every day. With friends, co-op, w/bots and friends, full 8v8, clan match? All is available all the time, and SD is gonna stick by this game. I expect careful monitoring on their part and DLC maps at the very least. How do they intend to blend the genres?

They're killing the game with what seems to be excessive worrying about people not understanding it. None of the videos released are trying to show off cool stuff, but instead try to teach us how to play it, and I just watched video of the tutorial in the game which is a TWENTY-FOUR minutes long video. I still hope the game will be good, but the marketing is just horrific. Considering it's a MP focused title something like that could easily just kill the game straight away.
Ok seriously this is starting g to worry me i havent seen a review and it comes out on Tuesday. If this game sucks or nobody plays it ill be mad! O_O
I think it will. Especially when it comes to consoles, if you aren't an exclusive game that is being backed by console fanboys or you aren't a juggernaut like CoD or Battlefield, you're MP lifespan drains quickly.
I have some concerns about the game:
1) It is made by modders - much like HomeFront was made by Kaos a group of former modders turned developers
2) It is being published by Bethesda (They haven't published the best games)
3) It's going against the big boys (Halo, KillZone, Battle Field, Call of Duty, Team Fortress 2). They market is dominated by shooters and I'm concerned this one won't have legs without a strong community behind it.
4) It was designed for consoles. Not that it's a bad theng, but with an interview with Xbox Live's Major Nelson, they were saying they wanted people to use a controller on the PC.
I'm still buying it, but those are some of my concerns.
