Jeff should do a voice for the Double Fine Adventure project

As a backer of the Double Fine Adventure project, as I hope many of you are, I'm really excited to watch this project unfold. Recently Tim Schafer announced full voice for the game. Listening to the bombcast discuss the project, I realized that this may be a nice opportunity for Jeff to try out voice acting. He mentioned on the Jar Time(tm) that he wouldn't be opposed to the idea of voice acting, and GiantBomb has a friendly relationship with Double Fine.

I'm not suggesting that Jeff play the main character, or even a secondary character. I'm suggesting he voice some random bit part, like the security guard at the aquarium or mysterious fox.

What do you guys think? Any backers out there who are also interesting in hearing Jeff take a stab at voice acting for the Double Fine Adventure project? Maybe another staff member? Hit me with your knee-jerk reactions!

Jeff? No, one Mr. Bradley Shoemaker should get the gig. Playing some sort of southern gentleman, perhaps a mayor and/or sheriff.

It would be neat if GB had some sort of cameo in the game but well... You shouldn't mix business with pleasure.

As cool as it would be, I think Jeff and Ryan have said in the past they would rather have professionals in the roles as they are not voice actors. As a neat small little cameo however, I hope they could be worked in and persuaded to partake.

By all means, Jeff for sure. And he'd need some killer lines, and plenty of chances to flaunt the funny that is JG.

Hmmm. Unprofessional? Well he could just not review the final product, so no conflict there right? I wonder what Jeff would say about that quandry.

I doubt they would review it anyway, just quick look the shit out of it and perhaps an endurance run! (I kid I kid) So yeah why not?

Jeff could pull off a main character in my opinion, maybe I have lofty expectations. No matter what he plays, he will certainly be unique

The problem that would arise would be that, even if Jeff was only involved in this game, there would be an ongoing stigma that at one time he was "employed" by Double Fine, which would make reviews of future Double Fine products much more ethically troubling.

Brad should. Or Vinny. But it's unlikely any of that would happen.

They handled covering Bastion just fine, despite their extensive coverage and association with Greg.

They should hire Patrick and Vinny. The main character would go into a zoo, and Patrick would be the mandrill and Vinny, the monkey.

Vinny should voice a disinterested overworked tutorial narrator.

"*sigh* and here you can see the inventory screen. in the inventory screen you can see the items that are currently in your inventory."

I would maybe like for him to play in a role where he is supposed to have poorly voiced acting. He could say lines akin to how he was saying them in the last Bombcast- "WE NEED TO FIND A LIGHT SOURCE" or something to that effect.

Pretty much that, that is the thing that bothers me the most about her being in the game.

To the people who are objecting to anyone who is a journalist to being apart of the voice acting due to conflict of interest ...

    ... ah ...

I really don't see the point. Sure, this is journalism ... but Patrick reviews games that he also reports on. To me, that's a bigger "conflict of interest" than a reviewer lending his voice to a few lines of dialog.

Now, if GB had an active role in the development ( writing the dialog, designing puzzles, mapping out plot-points, etc. ) then I think you'd have a case.

But by your logic ... none of us who are backers should be able to publicly promote or be a vocal fan of the game, or critique it.

We're the financial backers of the game. Our open discussion of the game could be construed as a conflict of interest. And god forbid any backers of the game are in the games industry in any capacity ...

So, a better question should be: Did any of the GB staff back the game?

No. That would be weird. Mixing reviewers and talent doesn't really seem right.
