Is this game worth getting if cheap?
Depends on how much you like the music in the game. The game itself just isn't very good, the hack N Slash stuff is boooooooooring and the RTS stuff is annoying. The writing, soundtrack and laser-panthers are all great though.
I believe I found out about Dark Tranquillity through that game. And it does make a fairly good use of it's soundtrack at times.
It's definitely worth a shot for that cheap. I do regret preordering and paying full price for it, when it was going for only half of that like a week after.
If you dig metal then you will like it.
I think this game appeals to metal-heads because of the soundtrack, voice actors, etc,. and even though I dig my metal, it is only worth two play throughs at most. Decent game: there are certainly worse games out there, so yeah, for that price it is surely worth it.
It would be worth it at twice that, so yeah, you should buy it. I was unfamiliar with much of the music going in but I found myself really enjoying most of it. The standard gameplay is mediocre and the action-RTS stuff is unique so you may not like it but really it's not so bad.
It's one of the few games I've not ever finished. I thought that while the writing and the setting were interesting, the mechanics of the game and the actual gameplay don't really pan out. I got so frustrated in the last parts of the game that I decided it wasn't worth my time to keep beating my head against the wall. Get Trenched instead.
I paid $20 for it (Black Friday, 2009, when it was still brand new) and could not get past the first hour or so.
I bought it for $20 a couple of months back, and it's a pretty great game. Some RTS fights could have been better, though.
I enjoyed the hell out of the game, the RTS elements and everything, it was really short though, only about six hours. Remember while doing the RTS segments to make sure to help your units fight, I think this is the part where people get hung up. I never actually flew in the battlefield, instead, I picked up my axe, and melted some faces.
Is either of the dlc pieces worth the money? I also bought it cheap $10 and don't really feel like droppin half that again on dlc if it's not really adding a lot. Thanks Sorry if I thread jacked
Hell yes. As long as you know what the game really is (i.e., not a hack-and-slash), and you like Jack Black's style of metal-based humor, you'll get some good times out of it.
Although, maybe it's just me, but trying to 100% that game is fucking ANNOYING, so keep that in mind if you're a completionist.
