Honestly they need to find better stuff to worry about. I always get so fed up at these articles and new reports where the media reports on games that they don't understand. They just immediately freak out and claim that video game are turning children into the devil.

Stylish, ludicrous kills net big points in this ridiculously over-the-top first-person shooter.
Fox News is at it again...
I dunno, for once maybe they got it right?
Still lollin at dis quote: "...players are rewarded for shooting enemies in the private parts (such as the buttocks)"
I mean really, they ain't even got the sack to say "testicles" or even the more accurate "anus" (aka: asshole).
Melanie Killen, Ph.D., a professor at the University of Maryland who has pushed for laws that govern the sale of video games, disagrees that the ESRB rating system is working. She says 9-year-olds are playing games like Bulletstorm and that there is no real enforcement. The FCC monitors all TV broadcasts and stiffly fines broadcasters for violating decency rules, yet there are no penalties in place for retailers who sell violent games to kids.

The most frustrating thing about these articles is always how they treat the ESRB, which is arguably one of the best ratings boards as far as doing their job. No one holds the parents accountable at all. If someones dad lets them watch Kill Bill it's not the FCC or MPAA's fault. Why is it ESRB's fault if kids are playing violent games, especially when retailers are required to card for M rated games?
"“The increase in rapes can be attributed in large part to the playing out of [sexual] scenes in video games,” she said."
... Really? Fuck. I better put Mass Effect down. Might make me wanna rape. Never know, might run into some hot blue chick and I'll lapse into a rapist!
I can see where they're coming from, but i think they're missing the point, they go into the stuff about the rating system and they're critical of it, but if you ask me they should really be critical of the parents. If anything it's their ignorance that lets the games get into the hands of children. Before i was 17 i always tried to buy M rated games and most of the time i was turned away by the clerk. I got my parents to buy them for me, but they were aware of the content and judge the games individually. They educated themselves on the rating system so they could make a choice. More parents should do this, rather than just letting their kids play whatever. I don't think any kid should play this game, that's why there are ratings in place to prevent that.
They say stuff like: "The Increase in rapes can be attributed in large parts to the playing out of sexual scenes in videogames." Where is the basis for this claim. Most sex scenes in games are consensual and based on a romance between the characters. Movies have had much more graphic scenes of rape. I think this assessment is really out of line and unjustified.
If you under the age of immortal and you still think video games are this uncontrollable evil that needs to be stopped then society has no place for you.
Fox: Damn it this violence and video games angle isn't working! We need something new!
Reporter: What about video games lead to SEXUAL violence, huh? Like video games you make rape people!
Fox: Brilliant!
Their parents who buy it for them only to realize that it's nothing but a buttocks shooting simulator, where they then contact their local news station to reveal the filth that video games are unleashing on their kids." It says 18. How can kids of age 9 (as mentioned in their article) even legally play this? "
You know...stupid people. That and as far as I know there is actually no law against selling to minors. It's more a store to store policy thing at this point. I could be wrong though.
Fox news is a really sad source for anything. Seriously are they worried about children? This is not a video game for children its rated M sure some kids are going to get it but they are not meant to so according to that logic we should get rid of all adult entertainment for the sake of the children... I am pretty sure children see worse things then what is depicted in a video games.
Even if they're just fishing for hits, I'll still read them because I find lines like this to be genuinely funny. Part of me thinks writers at Fox don't even put any effort into these anymore. They just plug "current violent game" into the template of 'kids play games, games corrupt children, research evidence, ESRB is useless, opposition essentially says "what are you talking about" or "get with the times old man" ' and then print because well, they're Fox News. It's what they do.Remi Sklar, the vice president of Public Relations at Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment, which makes numerous video games (though is unconnected to Bulletstorm), offered the following statement: “We don’t have a comment for that story.”
Actually legaly they can." It says 18. How can kids of age 9 (as mentioned in their article) even legally play this? "
There is currently no law against it.
Game sales are self controlled by the industry just like the movies.
That's what the supreme court case in US recently was about.
(this is ofcourse not true for all countries)
It says 18 on the box, meaning the content is not suitable for anyone under 18.
Same as with a movie, if you continue to purchase/watch/play the game/movie in question then you should know the risks.
Thus, if you complain to a news station about it the news station should say: "Sorry ma'm, your own fault really".
But hey, that's wishful thinking on my part.
Stupid media.
Legally a child can play this game, however there are restrictions in place to bar this from happening.
" It says 18. How can kids of age 9 (as mentioned in their article) even legally play this? "I mean come on its not like this is a porno with jenna haze on the front getting "gang banged". Even though you have to be 18+ to get porn to. Why isnt there an article about porn and kids watching them at age 9?

"You were asking about legality of buying the game.
We answered.
People complaining, social issues, parenting issues, etc. Are all a seperate things.
Are there restrictions? Yes.
Just like you are not likely to get into a movie theater to see an 18+ movie if you are under age, it's the same with game retail, some places will simply refuse to sell you the game.
But no one is legaly liable in either case, if you do actually go to see that movie or buy that game.
Oi, I wasn't attacking any of ya, just further telling my view of it.
I'm glad to get into discussions, better then posting and running away.
Its the bloody media tho I tell ya.
Lots of words, no real message, only hate spreading.
You'd think they'd have some common sense, but I guess that website hits are more important then that (wouldn't be surprised if they actually were more important).
So when the kid's being a kid, the parent's being uninformed or just don't caring, the game company/rating system is displaying a age/rating on the box yet the parents still buy the game for their kid, then its on them.
Sure we can't investigate them front to back to make such claims in a news story (we should, I think, but that's me) but my mind just can't grasp why such a story gets written and approved of when its doing everything except what it should do.
You don't run a story on a mugger where you defend him, saying its the old ladies own fault for being in the park so late and/or blaming it on her taunting him to rob her.
There's a line, he crossed it, he should pay for it.
Ignorance isn't an excuse, not for things that can influence your kids or their vision, or in a worse case a crime which leads to trauma.
My favourite part is where nobody is talking to them:
Microsoft, maker of the Xbox 360 console, declined to comment. Epic Games did not respond to requests, and the developer did not respond. Remi Sklar, the vice president of Public Relations at Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment, which makes numerous video games (though is unconnected to Bulletstorm), offered the following statement: “We don’t have a comment for that story.”
HAhahahhaha
" I bet 80% of the hits these stories get come from angry gamers, who then wonder why they keep making these stories. Ouroboros motherfuckers. "Awwwww, why so cynical :)
(ps: didn't go to the link myself)
Well that was a funny read.
As for the game, I find it fun, mildly funny and completely idiotic.Which is awesome.Too many serious shooters these days anyways.
And for the matter at hand, I started playing violent videogames at about 12 years of age.No, I don't feel the need to kill or rape anybody.Hooray for not being mentally unstable!
"Kids as young as 9" aren't supposed to be playing the game. It's not the game's fault. Young kids went to see "Saw". Complain about that.
Its funny because this is fox news, and it wouldn't surprise me if this was the kind of response the developers and the marketing team wanted.
“The increase in rapes can be attributed in large part to the playing out of [sexual] scenes in video games,”
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWW
I bet they think this is hilarious over at Epic and PCF

The entire gutsy attitude that they are marketing is one of the reasons im getting Bulletstorm, I bet they're cheering because of the controversy they've stirred.
From Alex Navarro's twitter page:
"Getting called the worst game ever by Fox News is the best press Bulletstorm could ever hope for. That whole article is box quote material."
You shouldn't take Fox News seriously. When they're not lying they... um... they're probably still lying.
"LOL
“The increase in rapes can be attributed in large part to the playing out of [sexual] scenes in video games,” WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWW "
" Fox News viewers are from the older end of the age meter. It's easy to get old people stirred up with horror stories about new technology harming kids. "No, I know a surprising number of younger people who also like Fox News...I'm young and conservative, but I still don't like Fox News because they do stupid stuff like this all the time...
For even more free publicity, they should have a PR guy show up on Fox in full on hackjockey meathead mode talking about the game like the intoduction and end of the demo.
He should also be some huge steroided out dude who yells like R. Lee Emery.
"YOU REMEMBER HOW YOU GOT EXTRA POINTS FOR EATING THE CHERRY IN PAC-MAN, MAGGOT!? IN THIS GAME YOU GET EXTRA POINTS FOR BLOWING UP SOME FREAK'S CHERRY!"
