In your humble opinion, do you believe that cheese cake is a cake? As much as I love the cheesy goodness of the substance, I cannot firmly say that I believe it fits in the cake category.

It seems that it is a cake based solely on the name, but I too feel that it is more at home in the "pie" category. It reminds me a lot of pumpkin pie in texture and overall design, yet for some reason it's called a cake. This argument also seems to be the exact opposite of the hamburger discussion. A hamburger seems to have all the necessary elements to be a sandwich, but we don't call them sandwiches. A cheese cake seems to be very much a pie, but we call it a cake.

However, with thought, it's a pie. It's a filling on a base. There is no soft, spongey cakey goodness.

Cheesecake is a pie and a cake! It has the name of a cake but the appearance of a pie! I think we can all agree Cheesecake is better then both cake and pie tho!
