Flawed, but interesting horror-themed FPS 0

Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth was in development for an exceedingly long time so the fact that the game kind of fell behind the graphical curve is understandable but still unfortunate. Even though the game certainly doesn't look like anything special from a technical standpoint, it more than makes up for it by providing you with an unsettling atmosphere and a head-trip of a storyline.I am completely unfamiliar with the written works of H.P. Lovecraft but all I can say regarding this...

Scary. Suspense. Sickening. What Else Could You Ask For? 0

If you happen to be a fan of survival horror games and the Cthulhu Mythos, look no further. The year is 1922 and Call of Cthulhu sets you as Jack Walters, a private detective who is hired to investigate a missing person case on the small fishing town called Innsmouth. Bringing no weapons but only his wits, little does he know that the locals in Innsmouth isn't your typical residents who are a cult group and are trying to kill Jack in manners that you can't possibly imagine. They obviously have s...

Great atmosphere, terrible game design. 0

There is a lot this game has to offer if you're in the market for horror games. the atmosphere and story telling is the best part of it but playing the game at this point in time you may be turned off by the poor gameplay and terrible game design.   My main problem with the game involved the moments where you were required to shoot at enemies. Ammo is limited and the gunplay sucks. if the game played through it's entirety like an adventure game i would have a better perspective on it. As is, the...

At Best a Poor Man’s Half-Life 0

I didn’t enjoy most of the game, it was frustrating as hell, but I appreciate having played it. At best its a poor man’s Half-Life. That's a huge compliment coming from me, I’ve never played anything like Half-Life from any other developer. The fate of the developer (closed after this, their first xbox game) also illustrates the perils of creating a Half-Life like game without having the resources or experience of Valve Software. In HL, players just barely survive every puzzle, chase, or combat ...

Don't look behind you Jack!!!!! 0

I feel so sorry for the protagonist of Call of Cthulhu, Jack Walters poor bastard. He goes through hell and back, at one point during the game i was warned not to let Jack hold a load weapon in case he trys to kill himself. I don't blame him. You see Mr Walters, is a very troubled man who's losing his sanity, and also happens to be stuck in the small fishing town of Innsmonth with some rather 'unfriendly' locals. Oh and by unfriendly i mean there hell-bent on killing him. I don't want to go too ...

Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth - Guilded Feces 0

Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth is a game I’ve been playing off and on since 2008 but have not really gotten around to finishing it. Until now… I bought it off Steam for $10 after seeing it had been reduced from $20. By belief for a game such as this is that it is difficult for anything slightly good to not warrant/justify a $10 purchase. But there are exceptions. CoC (just gonna call it that) was released in 2005 for the Xbro and PC by Headfirst Entertainment. Headfirst went bankrupt...

A very atmospheric game, which looses it's premise later on.. 0

When i started playing the game I was scared... and that is not common for me in video games. Finnaly a truely scray game has come to give us nightmares for us gamers ^_^! However COC does not come without flaws. The graphics in my opinion suit the game perfectly, as using dark textures and using a 1920's film effect, it really sets you in to the scary atmosphere that COC has to offer. Voice acting is not flawed in the slightest, it really makes you feel as though that person is actaully speaking...
