i for one am very protective of my ratio. if i have an off night and have some bad matches and my ratio drops a point or 2 i become obsessed with getting it back up to where it was. i always set a goal for myself when start playing to increase my ratio by at least 0.01 or make sure it doesn't drop, and if it does drop i keep playing till its back to where it started.

So am i just a freak or is this common?

I couldn't care less what my ratio is.  I don't know, and I don't want to know...I play with my friends for fun. 

I don't care about my ratio. I play games for fun, not to stroke my ego.

I think your feelings are pretty common, but I personally don't care about my ratio. Worrying too much about all the stats takes away from the fun of actually playing the game.

I stopped caring about my ratio the day my friend and I began our careers anew, as suicide bombers in Hardcore Search and Destroy.

I used to let my friends play on my account a lot so I wanted to get it above 1 pretty bad.... after that my friends don't play on it anymore and it just continues to climb so I'm not worried. I usually don't go on a crazy dying streaks that causes my ratio to go down, but if I do I just stop playing for a bit.

If it was good, then I would take pride in it. But its like .82 or something. Nothing to brag about.

But it's awesome when you get a headquarter that has 1 little door to enter.

For this reason, I wish statistics and rankings are eliminated from every multiplayer game. I just get too obsessed with my kill/death ratio instead of trying to do the objective.

There isn't a ratio on the PC version but it can be worked out manually.  I'm not what you'd call very protective of my ratio but I don't like when my deaths go up too much.

I am almost always top player in my team, and when my team losses i usually send a hate mail to the winners team top player , and challenge him to  a 1 o 1
i cant stand lossing :(

Yeah, but I'm getting tired of it. My K/D ratio is pretty bad. It went from a 1.5 to 1.36 in like 3 days.

Hell yea! That's all I care about. If I do bad I just turn my xbox off.
Though I have not played in a while but I think it is around 1.65.

I used to care about that ratio stuff, but once I stopped checking it I started having way more fun.

My ratio has sat at a solid zero ever since I started not playing it.

Too many "IM FUCKING AWESOME AT COD4, YOU'RE A MOTHERFUCKER" or, "IM MLG BITCH" personalities on COD4, had the game for many months but sold it recently, so I guess that means I could care less in my K/D ratio.

Hmmmm, I never thought about it but then one day there it was, 1.79. I have around 20,000 kills I think.

I do care about the accuracy though. I stopped playing around 21.70%. Now that's a number I can be proud of. G3 win..... ;)

I play team deathmatch and yes I care about my ratio of course.  I want to play well, if I die a lot it's giving the other team more points, UAV, airstrikes, and helicopters.  I wish my team mates were the same way... I only play stealthy classes because I know my team mates are going to give the enemy free points.

I take more pride in knowing that I don't use pussy shit like Frag x3, Juggernaut, Last Stand, or perks in general.

If it were actually worth  taking pride in, I might.  As is stands now, NO. I suck at online games.

Well kinda, but not anymore though. I didn't expect myself to go over 1.7 K/D ratio. I'm still aiming to increase my accuracy over 19% though. I'm still at 18.75%. :(

I do, but when I play headquarters all I care about is getting there. Which leads to me dying over and over and over again, but iI'm always getting the points. I went from like 1.3 to .74 after that double xp weekend because all I played was hqs. 

1.4 range - it could be alot better, but I took alot of time off. When I was in my prime, I probably averaged around like 25 - 30 kills and only several deaths. Eh, this makes me want to go back and master it again. Then again, I'm only good at Team Deathmatch.

No, it's a fucking video game.

I used to care and be insane just like you when it would drop .01 even. Then I realized how fucking pitiful I was for caring about it and how much of my life I was wasting playing video games. I was becoming as bad with my KD ratio as someone obsessed with WOW. F video games...I'm trying to kick the habit and switch back to surfing more, but playing games takes so much less effort.
