The fourth main Call of Duty game ditches the World War II setting of the past games to tell a story set in contemporary times, and backs it up with a breakthrough multiplayer mode.
Just realized how similar the sniping mission is to real life.
No he' saying that there's little inspiration, that the level is basically the same." @Steve_C said:

Your wording in the original post - to me at least - seemed as though you were saying that the location in Modern Warfare was fictional, but just heavily inspired by Prypiat - you only coming to this conclusion recently. I just meant that the location was specifically mentioned by name, and was supposed be Prypiat, and not just look like it.
So... the topic is just saying that the Prypiat level, infact looks like Prypiat? Apologies for the misunderstanding. They would need to include and recreate some iconic imagery in the level when designing it, and they nailed it.
Thanks for the site, I read the whole thing, there is something strangely beautiful about abandoned places. Very cool.
While not completely relevant, I feel a sudden urge to go check out places 9 & 5 since I live in the same country. :)
Ya thanks for the site, some cool locations on that page as well. The Bizarre deaths was a good read.
" @Pie: Yes they sent reference guys there and you can take a tour, but you must be accompanied by a guy with a gieger counter "Yeah, I read about that in the comments. Must be one creepy place to visit.............@Subject2Change said:

" Yeah. It was pretty cool. Especially how the last bit was set near the most memorable landmark. Although STALKER did a better job, imo(hell, CoP is going to recreate the Pripyat region on a 1:1 scale) "Never played Stalker but now id quite like to see a video of the place in game atleast.
This is pretty old news, but cool nonetheless. When you are sniping Zakhaev, you can see the nuclear power plant where the explosion occured that caused the Chernobyl disaster.
" @natetodamax said:You can actually see it multiple times throughout All Ghillied Up I believe. Most of those two missions are real. Heck, remember the large pool with the dogs in it right before the ferris wheel? That's actually there, and the go karts." This is pretty old news, but cool nonetheless. When you are sniping Zakhaev, you can see the nuclear power plant where the explosion occured that caused the Chernobyl disaster. "Ill have to go back and replay it to see that "
I've always wanted to go to most of these places just cause I know that nobody would be around and ..I am not sure if it is Illegal
