    Isn't War Fun?

Call of Duty was one of the best WWII games of all time; it was also one of the best shooters of 2003. When Infinity Ward stated that they were over WWII for the next Call Duty game, Call of Duty 4, it made us wonder how well the game would transfer.

Let me say with out a doubt, Call of Duty 4 is easily one of the best packages of the year. It has everything, a powerful story, awesome graphics, superb sound, an awesome single player campaign, and an even better multi-player to back it up, Call of Duty 4 may in fact be the best game this year. Call of Duty 4's single player is almost everything you could want from a campaign. It has all the intense firefights, plot twists, guns, and voice work to make a single player almost perfect.

The one place where Call of Duty 4 falls apart is the length of the single player. The game can take almost four to five hours. The single player shows you through a fictional war, one which feels like could happen today. The story takes a man who has a lot of power, and wants more. With the power he wants to do bad things to the west. The single player is through multiple perspectives like the other games, but mostly through two men, a S.A.S. soldier and a U.S.M.C. soldier. Both pretty much play the same, except they are both found in different environments through the game. All in all Call of Duty 4’s single player is short, but extremely fun, intense, and rewarding.

While the main single player campaign is short, there is quite a lot to do after the game has been completed. First off you get an extremely deep and addictive multiplayer experience. The multiplayer gives you one character to build on and level up, allowing you to create up to five custom classes with advantages and guns to cater your personal style of gaming. You gain experience through all your games, not just one. Meaning, when you leave a game to join a new one, you won’t lose any experience. The multiplayer works like all the other games, meaning it is still one of the strongest multiplayer games on the market. Also to make the replay value even higher, you get the option of playing the single player again on Arcade Mode. Arcade mode scores you on how well you do on a mission. You get more points for tricky kills, headshots, knife kills, and completing objectives. You also get four lives, if you lose them all you have to start the level over again. You also get more points for what level of difficulty you’re playing on, how many lives, etc. With that said, Call of Duty 4 will give you plenty of reasons to keep coming back.

From a technical point of view Call of Duty 4 for is also marvelous. The graphics looks very good, with tons of things happening on screen and effects that are just awesome. The water and night time levels looks particularly spectacular and stand out from the rest of the game. The game feels like your watching a movie it looks so good, and feels like your right in the middle of war. Of course, Call of Duty 4 makes war look a lot cooler than it actually is, until right around the end. The audio in Call of Duty 4 is also amazing. The ambiance is awesome, where bullets whiz by you and you here explosions far off, you feel like your right in the action. The musical score, like the other games is also incredible, with music at just the right time, and some really cool sounds at that. The best part is the Voice work though, which is outstanding, voices from your team mates are anything from extremely calm to superbly frantic. You will find your self being attached to certain characters just because of the voice work. Both the sound and grpahics will make you feel like you're the one in this fight.

Call of Duty 4 is a rare game, one that is plenty of fun no matter what you do. Like I said before, it has everything a first person shooter needs and then some.

I'll start out by admitting that I'm not a past fan of the Call of Duty games, though not out of dislike, more out of ignorance or just never having a chance to play them. Call of Duty 4 is my first true step into the series and on the subject matter I'd say it's akin to stepping out onto the middle of a battlefield without going through boot camp first. So yes, I died a lot, it's pretty realistic and hard, but most importantly it's intense and immersive. The single player story is short, I'll ge...

The 18-35 male is a valuable commodity. They have the kind of money that allows them to afford $500 consoles, and thus makes them the hot target for developers. They work part time jobs at your local supermarket and are usually in some form of debt in spite of their spending habits. In their free time, they enjoy multiple energy drinks, weed to ease the energy drink buzz, and UFC because there are fewer highs more sweet than a good ground and pound. And their hero? The soldier.
