Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

Game » consists of 23 releases. Released Nov 05, 2007

The fourth main Call of Duty game ditches the World War II setting of the past games to tell a story set in contemporary times, and backs it up with a breakthrough multiplayer mode.

    Must Get

Let me start off by saying, INCREDIBLE GAME

    The Strengths:

    1Great Weapons

    2Great Melee

    3Great Multiplayer

    4Intense story and multiplayer

    5Fun arcade mode

    6great, basic controls

    The Weakness:

    1Short Story

    2Graphics are a bit 'rubbery'

Activision did a superb job with Call of Duty 4.  It's main strength is it's multiplayer, the ranking system will keep your hands reaching for your controller to continue to level up.  The story is also a huge strength to the game, it is intense and does a fantastic job preparing you for what you will be spending a lot of your video gaming time on, the multiplayer.  Even though the story is intense and full of action, it ends FAR too quickly, the story could be finished in a sitting.

The weapons are a fantastic asset to the game.  They have weapons for close range: ex. AK-47, snipers: ex. Barrett .50 cal, weapons where you don't have to aim: ex. shotguns, or even the combo of all those: ex. M16, etc.  If you run out of bullets the melee is fast and effective, you just slash the enemy with your shank and he's dead.

The arcade mode is fun to play with friends if you don't want to play split screen, you play through an act with a friend and get points for each kill, in the end compare your points, very fun, and allows you to get to know each level even more.

The graphics are good, but not great.  The animations are well put together, but when you look down the barrel of your gun it looks like a barrel of rubber.  But even still, the environments and characters look great, and it doesn't make a huge difference, but even still, it gets on your nerves every once and a while.

This is a great game, and a must buy.  The only thing blocking it from a 5/5 is the fact that the story mode is far, far too short, and the somewhat irritating rubbery graphics.  Putting all of this aside, Activision did a fantastic job.

Jump right into the middle of the action! 0

I'll start out by admitting that I'm not a past fan of the Call of Duty games, though not out of dislike, more out of ignorance or just never having a chance to play them. Call of Duty 4 is my first true step into the series and on the subject matter I'd say it's akin to stepping out onto the middle of a battlefield without going through boot camp first. So yes, I died a lot, it's pretty realistic and hard, but most importantly it's intense and immersive. The single player story is short, I'll ge...

      The city of Warsville. 0

The 18-35 male is a valuable commodity. They have the kind of money that allows them to afford $500 consoles, and thus makes them the hot target for developers. They work part time jobs at your local supermarket and are usually in some form of debt in spite of their spending habits. In their free time, they enjoy multiple energy drinks, weed to ease the energy drink buzz, and UFC because there are fewer highs more sweet than a good ground and pound. And their hero? The soldier. The partially unk...
