Flawed multiplayer, but a fun campaign 1

People are talking about COD4's experience-based multiplayer as a groundbreaking achievement in online shooters, and I find much to disagree about there. Basically, as you gain experience for kills and accomplishing missions, you open up more and more guns and mission types. There is a flaw with this system, which is that everyone starts out with a poorly aimed pea shooter of a gun and must unlock the ones that can actually wipe you out fairly quickly. These guns are in the hands of the skilled p...

Lets play some shitty games... 0

If one believes the hype it is currently the second best PS3 game right after GTA4, clocking in at a shiny 94/100 on metacritic, but well, I don't trust reviews, so I played trough it myself (single-player campaign only, 'cause I don't do multiplayer). If there is one thing that Call of Duty 4 does really well it is giving a nice demonstration of all the things that are wrong with video games these days. The graphics and presentation is nicely polished for sure, but that doesn't help much here, s...

More "OH SNAP!" moments than you can shake a nuclear arsenal at! 0

Call of Duty 4: Modern Combat, I mean, really, what else can be said? This is easily one of the best FPS games of last year, one of the best FPS games ever, and a new high water mark for the genre. COD4 takes a detour from the other games within the franchise by forgoing the WWII setting, and placing this game in the present day. A modern day Middle Eastern conflict that has international players including U.S. Marines, British SAS, and Middle Eastern (and Russian) terrorists. Modern conflicts,...

This game is the prototype of the "next-gen" FPS. 0

Let's cut right to the chase, the reason why you should buy this game is it's muliplayer.  It's just fantastic and succesfully combines FPS with RPG elements, which makes you come back to the game over and over again. For those who don't like or play multiplayer, this game is a rental. It's single player is short, but really, really good, with a strong story and fast-paced shooting action. Like is said in the title this game is what a next-gen FPS experience can and should be, totally AWESOME!Jon...

CALL OF DUTY 4 IS AWESOME !!!!........and ADDICTING 0

Call of  duty 4 is my favorite online mutiplayer game .First the single player campaign it is really good infact its great but  a little short camparing to other games ,you play as different soldiers throughout the campaign. You have to fight against terrorist .The campaign take place in the middle east ,a ship and Europe, you are never doing the same thing for too long sometimes you'll be in the helicopter sometimes in a plane bombing down at people and my favorite mission of all is when you play...

A giant Dissapointment. This is Not OK 2

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is the latest edition to Activision's long-running Call of Duty series.  Usually this brand name is set in the 1940s during WW2.  However Infinity Ward has realized the falling of WW2 games and has made one of the games smartest decisions; move the game into the modern day.  While this brings us to a time we can better understand with and fancier guns; did the game suffer or benefit from this.  A little but mostly no.Story-Unusual for a shooter is that the story mo...

Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare PS3 Review 0

Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare as taken a huge step forward from the World War II era to modern day shooter. There's new weapons, equipment, and armor. In Call of Duty 4 players assume the role of two characters in the fictional war that takes place in the game. Sgt. John "Soap" MacTavish, a member of the British S.A.S and Sgt. Paul Jackson, a member of the USMC. Though missions for both characters takes place in different locations they are both fighting toward the same goal, to stop the terrori...

Easily the greatest COD to date. 0

Although Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare takes place in a different war then all previous call of duty games, it gives you a unique vizualization of todays combat style without goiong over board with unrealistic technology. As far as graphics go i couldn't ask for anythings better making the game anything but bland. If there is any downside to COD4 then it would have to be that it is far too short leaving gamers craving for more....

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PS3) Review 0

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PS3)How many World War II games are there? Think about it. A lot. Way too many to count. And so WWII now sometimes feels like "Been there, done that". The guys down at Infinity Ward realized that, and did something risky: changing the Call of Duty formula. It was a huge risk, failing could ruin the series. But IW tried anyway. And they succeeded.CoD 4 is set in a fictional war against the Middle East. A war with 15,000 nukes at stake. You switch off from t...

An extraordinary shooter with broken multiplayer 0

Call of Duty 4 is an average first person shooter, but executes it extremely well. This campaign is full of action packed modern combat, and engaging missions full of surprises. The situations in each mission, including locations are done very well and keeps me very satisfied. The shooting mechanic works really well, also giving you a button to sprint which was a fairly new concept for the FPS. The guns you use in here will all be recognizable in what you would see in the standard world for weap...

Great restart to the series 0

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is a great shooter and a true restart to the Call of Duty franchise.  It has set the process in motion to have a better line-up of games from this franchise.  It all started with some great pseudo-realistic online play.  The online play for this game is fantastic and it is what really sets this game apart from other shooters.  The Perks system and the laddering system are great.  The maps and precise controls/guns are excellent.  The game is pretty balanced compare...

    My #1 favorite of all-time! 0

Modern Warfare breaks away from the World War II setting of previous entries in the series and is instead set in modern times.Despite the game actually being good, Activision constantly reskinned the game for future titles in the series, which also resulted in many people (such as me, sort of) getting tired of generic games of this kind in general. In other words, this game, and it's sequels are pretty much responsible for the over-saturation of generic FPS games due to its success.Despite the E...

A bit over-rated by the gaming media, but solid if not flawed. 0

Call Of Duty 4 was released last year to overwhelming praise, a bit undeserved in my mind, but not something I took into account when reviewing the game.     Call Of Duty 4 as you probably know is a first person shooter from Infinity Ward in their long running Call Of Duty series. The single player game plays out as a fairly standard FPS that we've seen done to death since the original Call Of Duty . It's not a bad formula to say, but after Call Of Duty, Call Of Duty: United Offensive, and C...

Short Single Player, Tried and True Multiplayer 0

Graphics:- Lighting, and texturing looks extremely well done. Looking at the weapons they have a visable mass in the game. The Lighting effective give a great amount of grit, but at the same time give a good mixture of pallet to please the eyes.- The physics in the game are now up to par with STALKER, and its punishingly difficult weapons handling, and the terrain is not as destructive as Crysis in some cases, but that doesn't mean that garbage isn't flying by and vehicles aren't blowing up arou...

It feels like im being left behind. 0

Call of Duty 4 being the 7th game in the Call of Duty franchise feels excellent it combines enough new concepts to old concepts to create a blend of awesome that unfortunately gets cut off at the INCREDIBLY short single player campaign which is a great example of quality over quantity which feels like an incredibly insane action movie in 4D where you want to get off but something is compelling you not to which is where the game then flows to the Multiplayer.Multiplayer is really where the game s...

    MODERN WARFARE : A Thriller of a Game 2

They say war is hell. Infinity Ward's Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare takes you to the very depths of Hades. The long-awaited COD4, IW's follow-up to the excellent Call of Duty 2, is a jarring, intense, and gripping take on war in the new millennia. The enemies are smarter, the weapons are deadlier, and the grenades all too plentiful. COD4 will shake loose your fillings and have you begging for more. Infinity Ward was born out of the success of retelling some of the greatest battles in World War I...

    Short but unforgettable 0

Call of Duty 4 is the latest installment in the Call of Duty series. The setting for games one through three with three separate titles on the PS2, Xbox, and PSP, has been World War Two. Also out of these six games, only 2 of them have actually appeared on the PC. Infinity Ward has finally brought back the CoD series to the PC. Instead of fighting on the frontlines of WWII, CoD 4 takes place in modern times, hence the title Call of Duty 4: Modern Combat. This review only is a review of the s...

    Best shooter of '07 1

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare arrived late 2007 alongside a whole range of other highly anticipated games, and while it could have been overshadowed easily, it wasn’t and for a very good reason. Call of Duty 4 is a fantastic example of just how awesome first person shooters can still be, and in my opinion was a real triumph all around.   Call of Duty has in the past, had its roots firmly in the WWII era, however, as the sub-title suggests, Infinity Ward have decided to tackle a modern theatre ...

    New Battlefield 0

In Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare we will incarnate two soldiers throughout a conflict of world-wide scale. We will alternate the missions of a member of the British SAS with those of an America Marine; in a wonderful example of narrative episodes, simple and excellently treated. The game transfers us to a contemporary time at which several governments are being overthrown by rebellious groups, and a nuclear threat extends with himself. Our rol, of course, will consist of releasing hostages, par...

Best single player FPS game of 2007 0

This game's single player is brilliant. It's short, but the gameplay is really enjoyable, and the regenerating health system works beautifully here. Some missions require you to snipe, others to use aircraft weaponry, and still others to search for an enemy leader. The environments are realistic and immersive, and the cut scenes are top notch, with excellent audio acting. My favorite part are the stealth sniping missions in Chernobyl, which are scripted beautifully and make for one of the best m...

    Rusty's Call of Duty 4 Review 0

The First Person Shooter genre of games has always been my favorite. Nothing can satisfy you more then running into a room filled with bad dudes, the odds stacked against you, and yet gunning them all down, and standing victorious. Well, maybe sex. The Call of Duty series has always captured that feeling of being a bad ass dude the most. Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare is no exception, standing out as my favorite FPS of all time, and my favorite game of 2007.Modern Warfare's single player, while s...

Action movies you have met your match 0

Leave it to the company that redefined the World War two first-person-shooter back in 2003 to come back and do the same thing to the modern era.  Infinity Ward has not had their hand in a Call of Duty game since Call of Duty 2, and boy, does it look as though they were busy.  They story of Call of Duty 4 has the they player taking part in the war on terror, playing as both a US marine and a British Special Forces soldier fighting against the now generic Middle Eastern ‘ultranationalists’. The s...

    Back on track 0

The Call of Duty series is truly one of the best, but Tryarch is Activision's sad excuse on making more money (so they can release one game per year). Yeah Call of Duty 3 sucked. I didn't mind Finest Hour and Big Red One, but they should stick to the spin-offs. Anyway, Infantry Ward got the right idea and moved away from WWII. Modern times seems like a good idea. Combine that with Hollywood style storytelling, and you get one heck of an adventure. Call of Duty 3 started to add more depth into th...

Call of Duty 4 is here. This is the third game in the Call of Duty franchise created by developer Inifinty Ward (Call of Duty 3 was created by Treyarch respectfully) While many felt that the Call of Duty series was going no where, Infinity Ward decides to take a very smart and rewarding path. Why stick to WWII? WWII is an over used genre. Even though the games to come out for that genre have been great. It felt like everyone knew what was bound to happen before playing the game. The typical COD affair brilliantly executed 0

I own every Cod game and this is one of best (with COD 2 on PC). With epic graphics and heart throbbing gunplay it is one of the pinacle FPS of the year. The singleplayer campaign is short and indeedly sweet, and the Multiplayer is an enjoyable mix of the tense COD gameplay and Battlefield 2 style format. The overall gameplay and the missions involved are trully outstanding, its easy to play, theres no learning curve, and the multiplayer is so well laid out and executed. I could go on but just b...

Scripted sequences again? Oh boy! 1

This game actually blows ass. I tried it on the hardest difficulty setting and it wasn't bad, until I got to the TV station. WTF? Infinite respawning enemies, who spam grenades at you every 3 seconds. Why should I try and play it realistically when you give me no cover system and infinite enemies magically coming out of a door. The enemies just stream out of that door and never stop coming. I can sit back and snipe them and snipe them and kill again and again and they'll never lessen. Apparently...

I'm a little late to the party. Call of Duty 4 came out almost 2 years ago now, but it is absolutely worth anyone's time if you haven't already dove into its intense campaign and deep multiplayer. The campaign is short and will take you probably around 5 or 6 hours on a regular difficulty, but the quality of that campaign is great. The game is very scripted and linear, but this didn't bother me too much due to just how much fun it is; and if you're familiar with the Call of Duty series and are ev...

I can say easily that this is the best fps that I've ever played. The game has an amazing mix of action, humor, suspense, and the best of all, an awesome story. The environment and the things that happen around you truly amaze you at times and take you by surprise. There is no end to shocks till the end that will constantly leave you awed. There is such a variety in the game that you'll never feel like quitting it. The variety in this game is shown by the different kinds of mission which are...

A must buy modern day FPS! 0

If you have played all the previous games of Call of Duty series, then you can easily portrait the amount of experiences; Infinity Ward has put in the title called Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Their aim was to build up a modern day shooter and I bet they were massively successful.   Extraordinarily tensed gameplay and short-lived single player game; CoD4 MW will put you in different battle situations though out the game. Switching between US and British forces and from one part of the world ...

Still one of the most impressive shooters two years after release 0

If Crysis was the thinking-man's shooter and Bioshock was the story-driven shooter of 2007, Call of Duty 4 is the the most pure blow-the-crap-out-of-everything-and-hope-you-survive shooter of the year (and then some). This is a game that moves briskly, will push you and often drag you through incredibly intense combat that you really just need to navigate. It really pushes your reflexes more than any other shooter I've seen in recent memory. It's also a beautiful game, full with rich environments...

Frankly, I was simply nailed by this game. this one is one instant classic which is great blasting fun with an immersive story. The game makes you believe that you are really in war with lot of enemies and different types of attacks. When your team goes for ambushing enemies, they wont kill all of them and they wont die either. You didnt feel that you are the one who is killing all of the enemies, COD4 strikes perfect balance between AI and fun. Sure this is one hell of blasting fun even if it ...

    A short but incredibly thrill-packed ride 0

I am not a huge fan of games where you pay $50 for a 6-8 hour experience, but if there is one game that gets this formula right, it might be Call of Duty 4. It is one short-lived but incredibly thrill-packed ride. This game is relentlessly and perfectly paced, and it packs more adrenaline-pumping action into its short campaign than a lot of games can conjure up in twice the time. The level design is superb, and it has the best and most mind-blowing scripted events of any game in years. Even if y...

Call of Duty is one of the best games available on the 360. 0

Infinity Ward has finished with the World War II era and has finally embraced a modern twist. The game brings the superb gameplay of past Call of Duty games and throws in a crazy blend of more technologically advanced weaponry and a new refined story to match-- and it works extremely well. COD4 takes a step away from the WW2 setting, and does it well. 0

It has taken a couple of iterations by Infinity Ward and Treyarch; but this time Infinity Ward finally got the hit. After several weeks of the Beta back in August and September, Call of Duty 4 has finally come, and for the most part, has stayed in many consoles. The ever-so popular World War II franchise has shifted away from that setting, into a Modern setting. It proves to be a fresh, new, and exciting setting to play in. CoD4 is by far the best shooter on the Xbox 360, and it achieves this high mark by delivering the most amazing action sequences a game of its type has yet to reproduce. Let alone that it's an incredible good looking and well sounding game. It manages to bridge people who just like to shoot things in a video game to people that are looking for an intense and meaningful storyline that makes you feel as your really making a difference out in the battlefield. Call of Duty 4 is simply one of the best first person shooters ever made. The graphics are amazing and the story is very compelleing, although the campaign could have been a little longer. The real strength of this game is the online multiplayer. What sets Call of Duty 4 apart from other online multiplayer shooters is the points sytem. As we all know british developer infinity ward managed to create something which was able to combat with EA's WWII title, Medal of Honour. For 3 games we have been travelling through the same old recycled battles of WII: D-Day, Moscow etc. And it became tediously dull and boring for most of us. That was until Call of Duty 4 came along.I.F. The Call of Duty series has been both at the top of the FPS pile, as well as near the bottom. Several console iterations of the popular WWII shooter have been sub-par to say the least, but console owners finally got a true port of the fantastic Call of Duty 2 back in 2005. The Infinity Ward developed game was then succeeded in 2006 by the dismal Call of Duty 3, this time developed by Treyarch. Both the campaign and Multiplayer are superb. The campaign is very, very short. It only took me about 5 hours to beat the game on the first day I got it. dogsounds reviews: Call Of Duty 4 0

I have to say, although I loved Call Of Duty 2 and 3, I had my reservations about 4. Primarily because I love World War Two first-person shooters, and modern-day combat doesn't really float my boat quite as much. But, given all the good words I heard about it, and the fuckton of awards it sucked in like a bulimic at a cake factory, I could put it off no longer. And I have to admit, I had started to get "the itch" - the little voice saying "Go on, try it, you know you want to". And as I saw it in...
