Jump right into the middle of the action! 4

I'll start out by admitting that I'm not a past fan of the Call of Duty games, though not out of dislike, more out of ignorance or just never having a chance to play them. Call of Duty 4 is my first true step into the series and on the subject matter I'd say it's akin to stepping out onto the middle of a battlefield without going through boot camp first. So yes, I died a lot, it's pretty realistic and hard, but most importantly it's intense and immersive. The single player story is short, I'll ge...

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Review 0

Call of Duty 4 : Modern Warfare, made Call Of Duty veterans every where want to cry when it was announced that it would be taking a big jump in history from the WW2 genre, to modern warfare. Eventually the community finally gave in, and accepted the fact, that this once majorly competitive WW2 FPS, was now being changed radically into a modern warfare game. The WW2 feel to the genre was lost, but the Call Of Duty feel of game play was still intact, with a few added bonuses. Call of Duty 4 was an ...

Call of Duty 4 does it even better. 0

I've been playing the Call of Duty series since the beginning, the original PC release. I've enjoyed every single one and actually have played them through more than a few times. The multiplayer in all of them have been extremely impressive. I'm probably one of the few minor people that aren't sick of the WWII games. I love them. I just hate that they all are the same exact thing. At least Return to Castle Wolfenstein took a different approach. However, Call of Duty has always been fun because ...

    The city of Warsville. 0

The 18-35 male is a valuable commodity. They have the kind of money that allows them to afford $500 consoles, and thus makes them the hot target for developers. They work part time jobs at your local supermarket and are usually in some form of debt in spite of their spending habits. In their free time, they enjoy multiple energy drinks, weed to ease the energy drink buzz, and UFC because there are fewer highs more sweet than a good ground and pound. And their hero? The soldier. The partially unk...

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Review 0

Call of Duty 4 sets the series in the modern day for the first time. It departs from the beaches of Normandy of World War II and heads to the Middle East and Eastern Europe of modern day. The game sets a new standard for the military first person shooter. It has a very dense and intense, although short, single player campaign that will have you coming back for more with its deep multi-player component.     The presentation is very well done, the graphics and overall feel of the game is amaz...

An astonishing package all around. 0

Having won numerous awards at E3 and being surrounded by hype, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare already seemed like it would be one of the games of the year. Now that it is finally out, it has lived up to all of its expectations and then some. I have played Call of Duty 1, United Offensive, Finest Hour, Big Red One, COD2 and COD3, but this game is by far the best yet in the series. First off, the graphics and sound take this series to a once-thought unreachable level. The framerate never drops and...

Why is this game so good? 0

I never liked the original COD games.  They seemed too cinematic and the multiplayer games were not good.  So it was really on a whim that I purchased COD4 three days after it was released.  OMG!!!  The single player campaign is fast paced and really well done.  There is great mission variety and most can be completed using different strategies.  It was short, but it was one of the best SP FPS games I ever played.  It was so good I went back and attempted to beat every mission on Veteran difficu...

I just found this old CoD 4 review I wrote hangin' around on Gamespot, so enjoy it (or not)!  SPOILER WARNING: Click here to reveal hidden content. This game contains awesomeness. Call of duty 4: Modern Warfare is a game people will be talking about for a long time. It is an amazing game that is also a breath of fresh air from the recent "halo style" shooters that have become so popular. Not to say that there haven't been realistic shooters recently, its just that none of them have come close to...

Let's cut to the chase: Call of Duty 4 is one of the most critically acclaimed shooter of this generation, witly  an incredible single player campaign, although most players were drawn to the excellent online play. Considering how extremely popular Call of Duty 4 turned out to be, most people soiled themselves at the talk of a Map Pack being released. A Great Single Player, And The Best Online PSN Game. 0

After Call of Duty 2, Infinity Ward handed Call of Duty 3 over to a different publisher Treyarch which did a decent job. After awhile, they announced they are ditching the World War 2 story and going Modern and what a great choice. Now Infinity Ward has released there next game Call of Duty 4 and may have been the best game of 2007. Throughout Call of Duty 4's story you will go through many exciting battles. Sometimes you will be with a squad of soldiers and sometimes just one other teammate....

An epic singleplayer experience and an awesome multiplayer part. 0

Call of Duty 4 is definitely an epic game. Epic Single-player, epic multi-player, epic graphics, epic voice acting and so on. Its not just a normal casual shooter, it stands out in its own way and it really feels good to sit down and play it. The only thing thats sad is that the Single-player is really short, maybe 4-5 hours for a normal first person shooter gamer, but you want to play it over again, just to see the awesome thing happening again. Now into more detail: Graphics: In graphics, th...

Activision released their fourth installment to the Call Of Duty games, titled Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. The game was very in-depth, with a high amount of detail put into every aspect of the game. From popping car's tires, to shooting through materials such as wood and sheet metal, this game is the closest thing yet to actually being in service.Unlike the other Call Of Duty games, this title takes place in present day, with all of the current weapons and tactics used now. The gameplay is v...

    Best In Series. 0

Wow, I just finished beating the single player campaign on this game , and what a thrill ride. This game definitely deserves all the praise it has received by both critics and gamers alike. The graphics are outstanding. On max settings this game is one of the best looking out there right now. Lots of awesome lighting, shadow, and particle effects as well as some pretty good textures. The game also has a pretty fluid frame-rate and only a little bit of pop-in but that trelies more on your computer...

Great storyline and locations that don't let you get bored for a second. Not bad graphics, though I never got used to the green smoke thing. They should fix this any time soon. It's really annoying. :)The one thing I didn't like is the fact that the guys the game is throwing to you are like...thousands. Which could have been fine, if it wasn't the fact that you can kill up to six or seven baddies before they manage to hurt you badly enough to force you look for cover. Bad guys just tend to die e...

    CoD4 Review 0

If the Call of Duty series has been one thing, it most certainly has been action packed, with each installment offering something new in the World War 2 FPS genre, whilst every Call of Duty game has been great, even some settings get dull. World War 2 is such a saturated market for FPS's that most of the games just blur into one, this is why is it so good to see Infinity Ward march into "new" territory.Call of Duty 4 is all about the thrills of modern day warfare, ranging from missions over Euro...

    Best Game Ever 0

This was/is the best game ever. The campaign was pretty fun, and very hard on the veteren.  The multiplayer is the best part about this game.  The multiplayer was way better than Modern Warfare 2's, and World at War's. Those were both good games, with better campaigns, but the multiplayer for Call of Duty 4 is much better. It also has a great replay value, i have like 20 days played online. ...

How Well Do They Transition To Modern Day? Pretty Damn Well! 0

Tired of seeing the same old places and same old things from the beaches of Normandy circa 1942? Well Infinity Ward is right there with you. Feeling that their popular World War II franchise is turning a bit stale, they thought they might take a new approach to that oh so tired out series. Ripped straight from the day's headlines, Call of Duty 4: Modern warfare puts you right in the thick of battle as it is today, not as it was 60 some odd years ago. It is arguably the best representation of a m...

    Great and Addictive Multiplayer 0

The Call of Duty series has been innovative in the over-played genre and the team behind Call of Duty and Call of Duty 2 has finally learned that the WWII FPS genre is over played and the FPS needed a new spin. So Infinity ward has developed one of the best FPS in recent memory. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and as the subtitle suggests this is not another WWII game is takes place in modern time. Now let's talk about the story. The story in CoD4: MW is all fiction but takes bits and pieces from...

A great experience not to be missed... 0

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is a First Person Shooter created by Infinity Ward. After a boat load of FPS' s set during the WWII timeframe, COD4 breaks the mold and places you within various environments (mainly urban) during modern times. This is a HUGE change as it gives the game a unique fresh feeling. Personally, FPS' are not my forte, however, after playing this game my feelings for the genre began to change. Somebody who is not a fan of FPS' can complete the single player campaign ...

    WOW! 0

This game blew me away! I love this game. It is a great shooter and Infinity Ward did an amazing job. First off, the graphics are amazing and the gameplay mechanics don't fault either. The only problem with this masterpiece is the fact that the single-player campaign is way too short. But this is made up for in the near-perfect online play. Plain and simple but this game. 5 out of 5...

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 0

Infinity Ward returns to the franchise they created and brings it into the present with its best entry yet. The gameplay is a little tweaked and improved, but it isn't any leap forward there that makes it easily my favorite in the series, it's all about the presentation. Previous games were more or less historically based since they took place during World War II, so there was little room for them to surprise you in any meaningful way. But this one has its own storyline, one that manages to be m...

War is hell, but Call of Duty 4 is heaven 0

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is an outstanding game. The gameplay diverts itself from its WWII counterparts, and it turned out to be a great decision. There is practically nothing wrong with Call of Duty 4. Practically Nothing. The core gameplay is about the same as the previous Call of Duties. The L1 button brings the gun up to your face so you can aim. But what separates this one from the others is the variety in gameplay. The guns are great and realistic and powerful. The single player cam...

After hearing from countless sources about COD4's unbelievably amazing multiplayer service, and its equally unbelievably amazing single player story line, I decided it was time to give COD4 a try and see why it was that most people believed it was great and all. COD the New cocaine . . . 0

Best FPS I have ever played. The elements from previous other popular Online FPS games make this one fun for new and old users. A variety of weapons lets decide how bad you wanna smack 'em and the point system is pretty easy to excel in. The only gripes with the actual game is that it is way to short, and could use less cinema. As for the online game, it could also require some fine tuning here and there, ( Im looking at you random 'nade, and no beneficial mute feature ) all of which im sure wil...

The single player mode of this game is short, but oh is it sweet. several seriously immersive and intense moments (in particular the sniper level) make it memorable. The multiplayer is where its really at though. I've got nearly 10 days clocked in online with this game. Its super addictive but not for some mindless dumb reason, its really just so much fun. Perhaps it doesn't revolutionize the way first-person shooters are supposed to be played, but nonetheless Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is perhaps the best representation of what modern-day shooters are supposed to be; "Point and Shoot" is the name of the game, but with tight controls, outstanding visuals, a frame-rate that hardly breaks no matter how much chaos is going on screen, a gripping and intuitive story-line, this shooter certainly stands out. I personally haven't played the online mod...

The multiplayer alone makes Call of Duty 4 a must-buy. 0

Infinity Ward have finally abandoned the World War II setting that the series is known for, and gone into the 21st century with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. While the campaign is criminally short, the quality of that campaign combined with an addictive multiplayer plus some really slick visuals make Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare the best first-person-shooter of 2007. Even though the campaign is short, the game covers a lot of ground in the 5-7 hours it will take you to complete the game, de...
