We all remember the awful and inethical way activision handled the rearrangements at infinity ward and yet everyone still seems very excited about black ops.
I don't get it.
Aside from not buying it from a moral standpoint, what of treyarchs previous work suggests this is going to be awesome? The lack of prerelease reviews is pretty suspect imo
Call of Duty: Black Ops
Game » consists of 19 releases. Released Nov 09, 2010
The seventh installment of the long-running action franchise, Call of Duty: Black Ops puts players into the early era of the Cold War (including the Vietnam War) as a member of the United States black operations unit known as the SOG.
Am I the only one not buying Black Ops out of protest?
1. protests *rolls eyes*
2. Internet protests *rolls eyes even more*
3. Activison Internet protests *rolls eyes and yawns*
It looks pretty good to me. So what if they last few games haven't been quite as good as Infinity Ward's? That doesn't mean this one will be bad,
" I'm not buying itPretty much this, although if I'm honest, I probably wouldn't buy it anyways. Shooters are fun, but I don't feel like I "need" to play them anymore. If that makes sense."because I'm broke.
You probably aren't the only one. If the internet is to believed, people love boycotting things, or at least talking about boycotting things. Sequels coming out too soon, game based on a book by a guy who hates homosexuals, game is set in Africa, etc.
People seem to think its awesome.
I'm not buying it though,
1. I don't have money.
2. Why even dick with Treyarch's COD anyway?
I don't care about Activisions "evil" deeds. If they release interesting games then I buy them, Don't care about what happens behind the scenes. I'm not buying Black Ops because I'm not interested in another CoD game. I already own CoD 4 and that's enough CoD for me if I feel like playing CoD.
I gave up buying any Activision products after the way they handled Infinity Ward, unless it's second hand. If Black Ops is truly amazing I'll get it second hand in a few months.
I enjoyed Call of Duty 3 and World at War so I have little doubt in what Treyarch can do. I have no interest in the multiplayer in this game, it's obvious that they won't have done anything drastic enough to change the fact it's Call of Duty. I'm just a Battlefield person is all. Zombies were pretty cool in WaW, but I played it n the PC where they gave away all of the DLC maps for free, there's no way I'd buy them.
" You probably aren't the only one. If the internet is to believed, people love boycotting things, or at least talking about boycotting things. Sequels coming out too soon, game based on a book by a guy who hates homosexuals, game is set in Africa, etc. "I saw a article on joystiq about how 99% of people that singed a COD:MW2 boycott bought it day one.
It was a bad thing that happened with infinity ward but that does not mean that we have to go boycott a game another developer is making and trying very hard to do everything to please all of their user base.
And I don't get your second point, why does everyone say that the CoD games treyarch makes are bad ? yes they are not as "amazing" as CoD2 and4 were but they are not bad.
They are doing their best with the resources and time they are given and I am hoping that BO sells well ,which it definitely will, because I for one think that Treyarch deserves some love.
I'm not buying it
" I'm not buying itsame here ... tho I do hate actimilksion"because I have no interest in it.
" If we actually knew what went down at IW, there might be a case for boycotting Activision's games, but we know so few of the actual details. Most of the stuff we've heard is hearsay and conjecture with very few actual facts. "My sentiments exactly. I'm not going to prevent myself from purchasing and enjoying a game because of some hear/say BS on the internet.
" I'm not buying itTrue dat"Because I'm tired of Call of Duty
WaW was my least favourite CoD title, and I almost didn't even buy MW2 because I dislike Activision anyway and didn't feel the urge. Only reason I got it was it was only £27 on release week in supermarkets. Combined with the fact CoD's have only been going downhill (or at least my interest in them sharply has) since CoD4 (which incidentally is still the best, and the one I have most fun playing) I will not be buying BO. They just aren't as fun as CoD4 was... Even as a shooter they don't stand up... all the perk nonsense that it has degraded into actually just reduces from the experience of shooting shit. Which is what a shooter should be about, right?
" @airules: You can't just take Infinity War'd side in that battle just because they are the developers and we are supposed to support them and not the publishers. Like Matty said, a lot of what was said to of happened there is distorted and unknown. "Maybe in a court of law, but with Koticks and Activision's actions in the past, it's a pretty sound practical standpoint to side with IW.
Anyway I'm not buying it because I don't like Activision and 59$ is simply far too much for them to charge. Just my opinion, so I'm not paying. I don't really care if no one else cares nor am I protesting anymore than I'm protesting when I don't buy other shitty overpriced products.
no money, I already bought MW1 and 2 and if the leap from 1 to 2 taught me anything it's that buying another CoD game is a waste of money. As for a boycott, it's almost impossible to not buy games published by activision, and it's not fair to the developers working under them; they haven't done anything wrong.
I'm simply not buying the game because I don't care about it. It's no big deal as far as I'm concerned.
However, IW were constantly badmouthing Activision in public... I can hardly blame them for acting the way they did. I don't think they mishandled the situation whatsoever.
Boycotting a game that you would otherwise purchase day one, in my opinion, is absolutely ridiculous. Why deprive yourself of a great gaming experience?
" I won't buy it, because there are better games and less expensive out there. "Agreed. ill save my money for deadly premonition.
