The seventh installment of the long-running action franchise, Call of Duty: Black Ops puts players into the early era of the Cold War (including the Vietnam War) as a member of the United States black operations unit known as the SOG.
I've played CoD4 somewhat competitively (had a team on ESL and ClanBase with some friends) and enjoyed ProMod quite a bit (no chopper=awesome)
MW2 having no dedicated server support and no "moddability" whatsoever was a huge letdown... Not being able to turn off those spammy, shitty, random killstreaks was a pain to even think about.
Singleplayer was fun but completely overblown. Call of Duty 4 had a believable, interesting story. Modern Warfare 2 was an everything-blows-up action movie.
Multiplayer was, as well, completely overblown. Call of Duty 4 had tactical, no-bullshit gunplay with interesting things like perks and weapon addons, and the most powerful player-killing kill streak being a helicopter (and if used right bombers). Modern Warfare 2 added in nonsense like akimbo weapons, a large amount of player-killing kill streaks that were incredibly strong, perks that completely removed the tactical feel and awarded players for not even using guns, and plenty of glitchy or incredibly unbalanced crap like care-package sprinting and one man army. And then they removed any sort of server customization so you had no option of simply 'joining a different server.'
It's like they thought everyone loved Call of Duty 4 because it had PERKS and KILL STREAKS when that was simply a small mix in the great flavor.
@forestofdeath: Personaly I dont hate it but i did feel a little let down by MW2. The MP kinda felt like they had taken too many ideas from games like Halo 3 MP and made their won versions for MW2. I don't like Halo MP so for me thats why i didn't like it as much as COD4. Also felt like it catered more to cheaper playing styles and not much else (like sprinting and stabbing and noob-tube and army of one combos). Not saying these play styles should be ignored but should also have kept faithful to COD4 players that love the first MW feel.
Does the question really need to be asked? It's a CoD game, you know exactly what it's gonna be like and if there is something new then that's all you'll hear about from the time the game is unveiled to the time it dies.
