Rinse and repeat as usual, same asking price

I'm a PC player, and over Christmas i visited my relatives (as you do) and unfortunately was snowed in for a couple of days while visiting my parents and younger brother and sister, with nothing to do i thought i may aswell give Call of Duty: Black Ops a try on my brother's Xbox 360 and i thought this was rather fitting considering how consolised every game is now, so i could give it a proper short review without bitching about how there's no dedicated servers or that PC gamers are getting fucked over.

After killing Castro (well, the fake Castro), Woods looks back in the direction of the door talking to the corridor we'd just came from (or where Treyarch wanted me to be for this scene), telling it about the nice coat of paint he'd applied to his own corridor at home and this is where Black Ops fell apart for me, on the first mission: it's the same scripted shit as it was in the previous 6 games.
This continues throughout the rest of the following missions right up to the end, with Treyarch giving you no choice but to follow a linear path with fully scripted sequences throughout. It was like watching Die Hard in that everything was blowing up and bitches were getting shot left, right and center and it was EVEN MORE like watching Die Hard in that that's all what i was doing, watching. Games apparently aren't meant to be interactive anymore according to Treyarch and Activision.

    Star Spangled wank

There has always been a presence of "America... FUCK YEAH" in Call of Duty games but more and more recently (well, since they stop including alternative campaigns such as the Russians and British ones in their WW2 games) the games seem to ooze arrogant patriotism, it's like a Republican's wet-dream.
I became very pissed off on one level where you, as Reznov, must kill both Russian and British special forces to prevent them from obtaining a Nazi bio-weapon and during this i'd realised that in NONE of the Call of Duty games have you ever had to kill Americans, obviously the Americans had and still have shit special forces so they wouldn't have attempted to try and take it.

(NOTE: what i'm doing here is insulting the main audience who now buy Call of Duty games, obviously Activision would never insult your average white, low IQ, low wage American male as it would hurt their revenue, thus the reason they will never have you kill Americans).

Oh, it's also apparent right at the end when you rise to the surface of the sea to find the American navy ships with jets flying overhead and an American flag waving in the breeze.

The type of people who may enjoy this game

    • The dumb
    • The deaf
    • The blind
    • Fan boys
    • The chavs at my local barbers who have a collective IQ of 12 and still manage to form some sentences about how they like "shootin' dem fuckin' rc cars, they fucking blow the shit outta' ya' otherwise, bruv", these guys would fall under 'The dumb'
    • Hard-core American patriots who masturbate to images of the country's flag waving in the breeze

    Conclusion

All in all, a god-awful game, why are people still buying this crap?

      All must die 0

Call of Duty: Black Ops is the seventh core Call of Duty game to be released in the past eight years, making it one of modern gaming’s most consistent franchises. And while each entry is generally solid, that ridiculously frequent release pattern is starting to dilute the overall product. Black Ops is a perfectly fine shooter, and an equally fine entry into this blockbuster series. But it also does so little that hasn’t been done to death already, making it increasingly hard to jump on t...

      Scripted bore. 0

Everything in the solo campaign is scripted.  If you move up too fast, you can actually shoot enemies and they won't die because they aren't "valid" because their script hasn't started.  In that same theme, enemies will spawn in certain areas to supposedly make a tense event.  Sure is amazing how many guys hide behind a door even thou you can see that its clear until you walk thru.  The CoD series is no longer exciting.  You can see scripted events coming up, you can even guess what will happen ...
