Treyarch's Best, Despite Numerous Flaws 0

With Activision screwing over Infinity Ward, it was a tough purchase for me to buy Call of Duty: Black Ops. I have nothing against Treyarch, but they have always made the inferior version of Call of Duty. Black Ops is a new and interesting take on Call of Duty, and i have to give Treyarch credit for that. Behind the curtain however, the game is filled with inconsistencies and glitches, mainly with the multiplayer, that make the game extremely frustrating.  The campaign was fantastic for a Call o...

    COD: Black OPS 0

Call of Duty as a concept is about large set piece battles and constant feeling of just being one of many soldiers out in the field, struggling to make a difference. The recent "modern" adaptations of the call of duty franchise have focused on teams of super special operatives fighting unbelievable battles in small teams. The action this time around is equally ridiculous, but possibly twice as tedious and repetitive then even modern warfare 2. You've done this 100 times before; pop out shoot som...

Call of Duty: Black Ops 0

Call of Duty: Black Ops is the sixth game in the popular Call of Duty series and it’s starting to show. While the game is still fun and occasionally thrilling it is starting to become a series of: “been there, done that” moments. The tried and true formula just may not be enough to sustain this series for much longer. This entry in the Call of Duty series has you fighting through the sixties during several different events such as the Cold War and the Vietnam War. The game opens up with your cha...

Time is short. Think back! WHAT DO THE NUMBERS MEAN?? 0

I’m not in the business of reviewing multiplayer games. In fact, I’m not in the business of any sort of business. This review of Call of Duty: Black Ops will cover the single-player portion of the latest smash-hit title, of which there is much to say. Call of Duty: Black Ops is developer Treyarch’s largely successful attempt at upping the craziness ante established in Modern Warfare 2. By moving ahead 20 years from 2008′s World at War, they’re able to deliver some of the same Bruckheim...

Forgive your enemies, but remember their names. 0

Call of Duty: Blacks Ops is a high octane ride through a surpringly legthy campaign, accompanied by the always addictive multiplayer and the return of a Zombies mode. Black Ops has it all, and all of it is great. 4815162342  Numbers play an important role the story of Black Ops, and as special forces operative Alex Mason, it’s up to you to figure out what they mean. Strapped to a chair and questioned by unknown people, Mason must recall all the events that led him to where he is. Viktor Reznoz ...

Call of Duty: Black Ops 0

Black Ops is Treyarch's fourth Call of Duty game, and it seems like they've finally gotten the hang of the series. They've long been seen as a very secondary developer in comparison with Infinity Ward, the team that created the series in the first place, but with that studio obviously having issues following the departure of many key employees, Treyarch has the opportunity to establish themselves as top dogs. Black Ops has already surpassed Modern Warfare 2 in early sales, and I certainly ...

Call of Duty: Black Ops Single-Player Review 0

By -- Richard Jacklin  After a massive surge in popularity, it was decided that the Call of Duty franchise would release new installments yearly. In order to make yearly deadlines, the series has been split between two developers: Infinity Ward and Treyarch, who alternate years. After the bashing Call of Duty 3 from Treyarch received and the success Call of Duty 4 from Infinity Ward received, Treyarch has been perceived as the lesser developer by gamers. I used to feel that the negativity...

Very much the same as the other COD Games. 0

First off, let me start of my saying that I don't want t start any flame wars over this review, this is just my honest opinion of the game.   The game feels nice, but how many shooting games can you make before they start looking the same? I mean, Black ops looks like MW1, and that looks like the other two Modern Warfair titles on the market. how long can Activition go on before every one else starts seeing the same game with updated maps and weapon and armour classes? they are starting to blee...

I should never have bought this game 0

I should have known from the start that buying Call of Duty: Black Ops was a mistake. I remember being all excited about World at War, then playing it and realising that whilst the story was ok, it was badly let down by shit AI, poor level design and weapons that only seemed to get worse the more you played it.  To be honest, Black Ops is hardly any different. As with World at War, the story is linear, albeit fairly well thought out and entertaining, the weapons are varied but pointless, and the...

    Blops 0

To begin with, let me just say that Black Ops is in no way, shape or form, a bad game. By all means it's a great game for what it is. Okay.... now that that's over with. Black ops just doesn't grip my attention and hold it for very long. Yes it gives you Zombies/Dead Ops, but it's only fun for a short while. The campaign is pretty good, I'll give it that, but I've seen it before. Not in the same way, but the same concept. Now for the Multiplayer. Is it that great? I know some of you are going to...

    Stale and incoherent 0

As a follow up to Modern Warfare 2, last year's superb entry in the Call of Duty series, Black Ops' single player experience is a significant disappointment.  In its best moments, the campaign feels like more of the same — a lateral move for the series — at its worse, Black Ops feels like a stale, incoherent retread of what we've already seen before. With its two Modern Warfare games, developer Infinity Ward told stories of military conflict and geopolitical intrigue.  They were bombast...

    Good but boring 1

This game is awesome at its peek, when your playing with friends its fantastic but when playing alone its frustrating and boring. The sniping is crap, its hard to enjoy sniping as they goof'd it, its nearly impossible to quick scope and comparing to MW2, cod 4 and WaW its stupidly hard to play, too many camping spots. They said they removed Commando, well they removed the perk but now its random, either you can knife as far as a T-Rex or you can practically snipe with your knife. They put in the...

    Fun singleplayer, Same multiplayer 0

Call of Duty: Black Ops marks the third major Call of Duty that has been released by Treyarch (but technically their fifth COD game, including the abysmal Call of Duty 2: Big Red One and the Wii version of Modern Warfare). Treyarch has become somewhat notorious among some gamers, and some are quick to dismiss their games. Let me tell you right now: These people are stupid. Treyarch has created a great Call of Duty game. The single player is the best of any COD game that has been released...

    Great Multiplayer 0

From now on, Call of Duty is now a multiplayer only shooter franchise, where the single player is tacked on just for the hell of it. At least that's the way it seems with "Call of Duty: Black Ops", which has a very addicting competitive multiplayer, a fun, but nothing special cooperative multiplayer, and a rather poorly executed single player. Simply put; the campaign in this game doesn't need to exist, however promising it is.You play as Alex Mason, who starts out being interrogated by a disem...

    Not a review... A Treatise!!! 0

When I was at school, I used to play rugby. I was never very good, but I was big so the collected wisdom of the school’s council of PE teachers placed me in the second row of the B-team. It was quite a sweet gig for a time. On some afternoons, we were taken out of classes to play away fixtures, where we would usually get our arses kicked. But still, after a hard day’s losing we would get hot dogs and orange juice. Nobody really expected anything from us because we were hopeless, never tac...

    I hate this game 0

I couldn't play through this game. It is unplayable. It is truly broken.                   This is your brain. This is your brain on COD Black Ops. Any questions?...

Black Ops plays it safe 0

The resounding success of Modern Warfare 2, both critically and commercially left no room for error as Treyarch unravelled Call of Duty Black Ops. It could easily represent the most ambitious entry into the series, disregarding the upcoming Modern Warfare 3 ofcourse. Treyarch battled hard to convince fans that this experience would be better than the last, merging the greater concepts of Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2, or atleast it seemed. It has to be said that Black Ops initially did wel...

    Basically Good 0

While very little is "revolutionary", it does all the basics well. Single-player in engaging and fun, multiplayer is on the addicting side, and Zombies gives you a great mode for having friends over and just shooting stuff. While the DLC available may be good, having to pay so much just to keep your game up to date gets old....

A great story with both great multiplayer and zombies mode. 0

The Good: Campaign has plenty of intense action - Story is quite intriguing - New theater mode allows you to save your favorite matches or moments from the multiplayer - Zombies mode is better than ever. The Bad: Multiplayer is starting to grow stale - New currency system is rather annoying - Short campaign. Call of duty has managed to draw millions and millions of gamers to its Multiplayer and fast paced high action single player. But with this latest Call of Duty title, I cant help but fe...
