does anyone think that MW3 will improve the COD experience overall?...or will it still retain the problems that the series is known for  and possibly create new ones

#2 Posted by Cloudenvy (5729 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

No I do not.

#3 Posted by scarace360 (4828 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

think it will be the same.

The feel of the gameplay will be similar, the set-pieces will have gotten considerably bigger. Whether that's enough for you depends entirely on whether you have gotten bored of the formula at this point.

It will either be the same or worse, at this point the cod series has nowhere to go but down until they change there game model.

#6 Posted by Ghost_Cat (1022 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

I think the trailer speaks for itself.

#7 Posted by Jadeskye (4323 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

It'll be the same because money.

#8 Posted by PhatSeeJay (3311 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

It'll be a lot more of the same.

#9 Edited by valrog (3670 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

I doubt it will improve anything of significance.

#10 Posted by MentalDisruption (1324 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

Same. It's CoD. That's what it does.

#11 Posted by TheDudeOfGaming (5878 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

More of the same, but you never know.

#12 Posted by HandsomeDead (11863 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

I hope it's more of the same.

#13 Posted by shinigami420 (640 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

It will be terrible just like MW2

#14 Posted by canucks23 (1083 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

After watching the e3 demos, mw3 is just a level pack for mw2. There is absolutely nothing new besides that scope switching thing, which is minor as hell.

#15 Posted by tourgen (2971 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

My prediction: Mostly new level geometry (but mod'ed from pre-gen'ed templates), new level scripts, some new textures, new voice work, new writing. Re-use of most of the sounds, character models and animations, level props (stuff lying around), 100% game code re-use. Change some menus up and some edit-able parameters in the game engine - damage mods, speeds, etc.

Pretty much a full expansion pack as in the classic PC days but at $60 instead of $30-$40.

Thats really the only change they've mentioned. The horde mode thing is new I guess. But Black Ops had zombies which is basically horde mode.

i personally think its their attempt at an enchanced rehash of MW2 im not saying it doesnt have new featured but it looks like i've played it before

More of the same, and we would be lucky to be getting that with everything that's happened.

#21 Posted by HairyMike87 (998 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago
@captaincool246: I feel that because of what happened at Infinity Ward and them having to throw more people from other internal studios to work on the project, they won't take any chances at trying something new. You'll still get an over-the-top campaign and I'm sure the multiplayer will be almost identical to MW2 and BO with very few additions. I would be in shock if they were able to innovate on the multiplayer side enough to make it a fresh experience, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
#22 Posted by ImperiousRix (2933 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

It'll likely be exactly the same.  I'm hoping they'll either give the series a break following MW3 or at least go for something completely different, but I know business and money will likely see to it that it doesn't...

#23 Posted by TooWalrus (11818 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

It'll be more of the same, but the same is pretty damn fun.

#24 Posted by Buie04 (35 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

Haha nice spoiler.

#25 Posted by Solemn (278 posts) - 1 year, 10 months ago

The latter.

#26 Posted by HitmanAgent47 (8577 posts) - 1 year, 10 months ago

Worst because it's not entirely the infinityward team. It's going to flop even more than treyarch games, or might get closer to their score on gamerankings.

No dedicated servers again = no buy, fuck IW.

Activision. IW basically isn't making this series anymore. Most of their talented squad quit some time ago, leaving their janitor to make MW3.
#30 Posted by sharkeh (57 posts) - 1 year, 10 months ago

@faunt: It isn't Activision because if it were then Black Ops wouldn't have dedicated server support either.

#31 Posted by ErrorOperator (458 posts) - 1 year, 10 months ago

@faunt: What a great insightful scoop into the offices at IW.

As for the question, are the two mutually exclusive?

#32 Posted by Intro (1035 posts) - 1 year, 10 months ago

I believe it'll be the same. If they did something other than reskin it, they would lose money.

#33 Posted by Liberty13Prime (5 posts) - 1 year, 10 months ago

According to that 10 minute E3 demo, it looks like more of the same... which is good. I like Call of Duty. If I want to play something "different," then I'll pop the Battlefield 3 disk into my console.

#34 Posted by ajamafalous (10607 posts) - 1 year, 10 months ago

It looks exactly like the game they've released for the last four years.

#35 Posted by captaincool246 (29 posts) - 1 year, 10 months ago
@jadeskye: absolutely...they should just rename activision "bank of america" cause we give them so much money
#36 Posted by captaincool246 (29 posts) - 1 year, 10 months ago
@HairyMike87: oh i agree they wanna play it safe to keep their fans but even they have to realize that the series experiance gets stale and unintresting  i feel the more hours you put into it the less fun it becomes and repetive....not to mention you start to notice bugs and general problems with the game i never remember feeling that way about kirby, mario or any other sort of game that used to be more popular than COD
#37 Posted by ikwal (222 posts) - 1 year, 10 months ago

It will be the same game as the other ones, just with new maps.

#38 Posted by vaportra1l (269 posts) - 1 year, 10 months ago

I'm fairly certain sure you're still gonna shoot dudes in the face, so yeah.

#39 Posted by fuddles (82 posts) - 1 year, 10 months ago

I think that it'll be more of a refinement than a brand new experience.

#40 Posted by Alexander (1655 posts) - 1 year, 10 months ago

I will be pleasantly surprised if it matches the amazing single player experience of 4 and MW2.

#41 Edited by Fudge91 (194 posts) - 1 year, 10 months ago

It will redefine first person shooting.

#42 Posted by Aus_azn (2223 posts) - 1 year, 10 months ago

Well, I bought MW2's CE, and I'm definitely not buying this one's. I'll probably wait for the whole campaign to hit Youtube, watch it, then if I like it, buy it. I'm already a skeptic.

#43 Posted by Soap_of_Death (86 posts) - 1 year, 10 months ago

More of the same with the addition of about half a dozen guns.

#44 Posted by NTM (6426 posts) - 1 year, 10 months ago

I don't know about retaining the problems, but I think it will retain the thrilling single player experience, whether you're into that or not. It pulled me in on MW2, so we'll have to see if I don't mind another exciting yet somewhat similar experience this next go.

#45 Posted by Grillbar (1624 posts) - 1 year, 10 months ago

its going to be alot of the same just like the last one was. a big bowl of bland. it will still sell just as good as the last one.

not saying that im not gonna buy it, the single reason is the "co-op" since that was so fucking great in the last one and thats the only thing exiting about it

#46 Edited by darkwingduck (148 posts) - 1 year, 10 months ago

i don't see how " more of the same " can't be viewed as good, since thats what most people want - more CoD

#47 Posted by Intro (1035 posts) - 1 year, 8 months ago

More of the same, if you think anything else, you're crazy.

#48 Posted by tunaburn (1824 posts) - 1 year, 8 months ago

this will be the first COD in a long time i dont buy. it needs to change considerably before ill pay for the same game again.

#49 Posted by greenygrey (155 posts) - 1 year, 8 months ago

I predict that it will be moderately better than Modern Warfare 2. It's a competent shooter, but it's still the same old COD game we've been playing for years. Well, at least it's not bad as Modern Warfare 2. But you know what's the sad part, almost every high profile gaming website will still flourish it with gushing praise and it will still be nominated for multiple GOTY awards.

#50 Posted by the_OFFICIAL_jAPanese_teaBAG (4267 posts) - 1 year, 8 months ago

im not going to buy this game either...  at this point i cant tell if any meaningful improvements are going to be added to the game but im assuming they wont.
