    Modern Warfare Continues 1

LogoModern Warfare 3 is the latest Call of Duty game by Infinity Ward, along with some other developers this time around. It's been debated by developers and fanboys if the latest Call of Duty or Battlefield will claim shooter of the year honors. Does Modern Warfare 3 stand up against Battlefield 3? Yes and No.Let's start with the single player. The story picks up hours after the end of Modern Warfare 2. Captain Price is desperately trying to save Soap, while a world war between the United State...

It Might Be Cool To Hate On MW3, But That Hatred Is Misdirected 1

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is a game mired in controversy, its reputation tainted by questionable business ethics and internet flame wars. Look past the lawsuits, corporate mud slinging, and accusations of stagnation from a restless fanbase, however, and you'll see that Modern Warfare 3 is possibly the strongest of the Call of Duty games and a great shooter in its own right. Is it as shockingly innovative as the original Modern Warfare was in 2007? Absolutely not, but with mechanics this refi...

One Last World War, For Old Times Sake. 0

Let's get one thing straight, if you are reading this you probably have played, if not owned, a Modern Warfare game, and with that in mind I'm not going to to do much of an introduction. Modern Warfare 3 is the third and seemingly final entry into Infinity Ward's modern military shooter franchise, with the single player story picking up directly where MW2 left off. In tow is the usual assortment of multiplayer and Cooperative Spec-Ops, each dressed up with the expected incremental upgrades to gi...

    Deserves a little hate... 0

Modern Warfare 3 is a weird game to summarize in a review. On its own merits if you’ve never played a Modern Warfare game before it’s a solid MP game that offers a block buster yet very short lived SP campaign. On the other hand if you look at it from a standpoint where this is the 4th game in 4 years of this current CoD life cycle and there have been absolutely no material changes to the engine or formula it can be somewhat of a yawner. The game play is everything we already know and expect. Whe...

High Octane All the Time Doesn't Create Excitement 0

Single PlayerOk, so here is the problem with Modern Warfare 3, and truth be told this isn't really that much of a problem. It is exactly the game we are expecting it to be. The mechanics are the same, the story is the same, heck even the game sequences feel scripted. The problem with this though is that we have walked this path before and when you have someone screaming in your face for five hours straight you begin to just eventually become numb to them. The impact of high intensity full on exp...

Review: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 0

It’s November 2011; and like clockwork, it’s time for latest Call of Duty title to hit stores. Another big Call of Duty release, another year of record sales figures and another trip to the well before it runs dry. Activision’s annual juggernaut is back, and in the form of Modern Warfare 3 – the new household game with the household name. In what will be perhaps the most pivotal and telling year of the series’ existence, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 hopes to maintain the upward climb of commer...

    Too Little Too Late 0

Too little too late. This probably should have been the slogan for Modern Warfare 3. Just getting that out of the way, and now on to the actual review.Since the beginning of Call of Duty (the beginning of time it seems) we have been doused in very well put-together First Person Shooter gameplay and fast-paced action sequences. All of this, only coupled with unrivaled multiplayer. Its not like Call of Duty started off crappy and now its the biggest franchise in the world just "because." Activisio...

At Least The Multiplayer's Awesome 2

Full disclosure: I have not played Battlefield 3, and I don't mean to compare this game to Battlefield 3 at all. Instead, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is incredibly similar to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. If you’re sick of that game for different reasons than I am sick of Modern Warfare 2, you should probably skip Modern Warfare 3 until you feel a hankering to play Call of Duty. If you’re up for some timely military conflict, though, there’s some cool stuff to see in Modern Warfare 3.In mos...

The last walk to the park with an old dog 0

Like always, I am going to keep things short here, because most of you guys surely want a yay or nay (with a short explanation) and not my personal diary describing my deepest thoughts and feelings.Modern Warfare 3 is the latest installment of the COD franchise and is exactly what a "die hard" COD fan would expect from it. It's a solid military shooter with an addicting multiplayer part that will keep you entertained for a while but to be honest there are no big gamechanging additions or changes...

    Deja vu 0

At the risk of sabotaging my own review, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is a game that doesn’t really need to be reviewed; you should already know if you’re on board for another installment of the series. If you want more Call of Duty then Modern Warfare 3 fits the bill just fine, but if you’re otherwise getting a little tired of it all then you might be better off taking a break this year.Part of me just wants to provide links to my previous Call of Duty reviews and be done with it, especially ...

Activision's done it again for good this time 0

After the release of Modern Warfare 2, the co-founders of Infinity Ward, Jason West and Vince Zampella, asked for extremely large bonuses and creative control of the Call of Duty series. Activision agreed, but added a clause to the contract that should they be fired, the rights to Call of Duty would fall back to Activision. After the contract was made former chief legal officer George Rose at Activision asked Thomas Fenady, former director of information technology at Activision, to "dig up dir...

ANOTHER YEAR ANOTHER CALL OF DUTYThis sequel to the highly popular Modern Warfare 2 starts shortly after 2 ends. Soap heading to a safe zone to be treated from wounds he got from fighting Shepherd. Shortly after all hell breaks loose and World War 3 begins. The story is weak, but it movie at a pace that it is alright. Stories have always been week for these games, but from a franchise standpoint, it's the most interesting. The NO RUSSIAN mission from Modern Warfare 2 feels more important this ti...

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 0

I'm really curious how close this game is to what it would have been had Jason West and Vince Zampella not been fired by Activision and taken a lot of the higher level talent at Infinity Ward with them. Was the plan for the game already in place, or did the people left behind have to come up with the whole thing? If there was a plan, how detailed was it? I'm curious because I had fun with the game, but it doesn't do much besides meet the standards of the previous ones without bringing much new t...

    Non-Interactive SIngle Player 0

Modern Warfare 3 (Single Campaign)The Behemoth of video games is back for another year, but without most of Infinity Ward's staff. Still didn't stop it selling $775m in 5 days.Is it bigger, better and more insane than last years action feast?Unfortunately the answer is a resounding NO.It's shorter (it took me 5 hours to complete one hour less than MW2), less interactive and instantly forgettable. The Transformers 3 of video games, all bluster, no substance. To maintain control over the action the...

Most Anticipated Game in History Eh? 0

The Call of Duty phenomenon is no joke in today's world of gaming and the impact every new game brings is huge. This is the franchise that has established numerous standards in this current generation of consoles whether we like it or not. To be honest, Modern Warfare 3 is the first Call of Duty I had extended time playing through and even though I knew what the fuss is all about, having that extended time is worth it to see if it is really worth all the attention it gets. This year's ...

A big budget pop corn action movie in video game form 0

Have you ever wanted to play a big budget pop corn action movie in video game form? If so then Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is for you. On the other hand, if you wanted a great first person shooter, then you might want to look elsewhere. This is not to imply that there aren't great things about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, like it's scenarios, and graphics, it is just that the other aspects of the game, such as the story, and game play, are below average and bring the overall experience dow...

Good, Expected Effort but Need to Change Gameplay Fast! 0

The first time most of us ever played COD, and started going on about how great of a war franchise it was was arguably around the time when Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was released, the original of the series. Everybody loved Price, Soap and especially Gaz for the campaign, and the multiplayer boosted it along, with everybody wanting to get to Prestige. Not to mention the fantastic graphics, gameplay and action-packed storyline that soon became a boy's best friend. But eventually, over the ye...

Alright let me get straight to the chase about what I'll be reviewing about the game and what I won't. Firstly if you're interested in a review telling about the story skip this review, I won't be reviewing that since pretty much everyone agrees that this franchise is all about multiplayer. Secondly my main focus of this review will be different than others, this time the main focus is one simple goal to determine. And the thing that I'll be focusing on mostly can be phrased in one simple questi...

Best gameplay in FPS History, dumbest story in FPS history 0

This week, I'm reviewing the latest installment in the Call of Duty franchise, with Modern Warfare 3.Multiplayer footage by Matroix (http://www.youtube.com/Matroix)Classical Music during the "Incoherent Rage" card is "Virtutes Instrumenti" by Kevin McCloudNotes: One thing I forgot to get into in the review itself is that the single player levels are incredibly directed. You can kind of feel the pressure in the game to keep you moving in a specific direction all the time. On the one hand, this ma...

Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Review 0

Developer: Infinity WardPublisher: ActivisionWith the leviathan of a PR machine, and inevitable fan boy war that comes with the release of every Call Of Duty game, it is increasingly difficult to remove ones self from the masses of hate and love gushing from the respective camps. The waves of the internet are inevitably strewn with battleships, intent on blasting anyone that doesn’t agree with their opinion, condemning them to the bottom of the ocean for all eternity. There is no neutral ground ...

    Nice 0

I got it on Christmas. When I started the campaign, I feel in love with the game! I finished the campaign, although still disappointed that the Americans fought against the Russians -_-. After the campaign, I tried the multiplayer. At first, the multiplayer was good, but campers and other common disliked parts about these games, got on my nerves. I tried sniping, I did decent, but the multiplayer is poorly made, so my K/D was 1.3. On Black Ops mine was 4.1 and on MW2 it was 1.9. I do better with...

    Need To Change 0

Well, with the departure of most of the core of IW, there were serious concerns heading into Modern Warfare 3. I wish I could say this game was an awesome game, I cannot say so. I liked the first two and this one, sadly, seems to be lacking in any real changes or updates to the formula. Tragically, I prefer the prior year's game more (Black Ops was awesome, in its defense, but it's odd to prefer Treyarch's work).I recognize that I'm in the minority --- Elite is apparently selling well at $50 a p...

Review: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 0

At this point, Call of Duty has become its own genre. Never mind calling Activision’s seemingly limitless cash cow a military shooter, much less a plain Jane action/adventure game. CoD has reached such a critical mass that to call it anything less would be a gross understatement. With over $1 billion of combined sales between Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops, Call of Duty has become a entertainment behemoth. But with that success comes the pressure to continue producing a quality product.Make no m...

More of the same may not be bad 0

Call of Duty is one of those franchises that people easily love it or hate it. This years iteration of the series will not change anyone’s opinions about the game. The game itself is more of the same, and that may be a good thing if that is what you are looking for in a game. The COD gameplay sticks to a familiar formula from the past games. You will be aiming down the sights and throwing grenades and pretty much everything else from past games. The gameplay is fast and reaction based compared to...

Only my second time around 0

This is really only the second Call of Duty game I've gotten deep into, the first being MW2. That game hooked me like maybe no other multiplayer shooter ever, and this makes minor tweaks that keep me coming back over and over. Support class really changes everything for me. I love it that I can help my team even if I can't string together a bunch of kills.Single-player isn't great, but is serviceable. It can be beaten in one sitting and has a handful of the typical "wow" moments we've come to ex...

Not as good as Black Ops, but still a fine game. 0

The Call of Duty series has, for some time, been accused of resting on its laurels. Since the breakout success of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, the series has built a legion of fans - and detractors - for its insane roller coaster of a single player campaign and for its frantic, arena-based multi-player suite. While Modern Warfare 3 won't change anyone's mind, this newest entry commits a sin worse than stagnation: it is a regression from the previous entry. The single player campaign shifts bac...

A Welcome Return to Modern Warfare 1

Let's get this out of the way: is Modern Warfare 3 going to be a good game? Do you want to play some more Call of Duty? Are you ready for more of the same polished multiplayer and a single player campaign that's arguably one of the most intense and awesome campaigns I've played in a shooter? Then yes, Modern Warfare 3 is a great game.I was really on the sideline for this year's annual Call of Duty installment. Where Black Ops surprised me by having a great single player campaign experience, MW3 ...

The blockbuster series returns! Can you stop Makarov? 0

Modern Warfare 3 offers up some intense action in all of its modes. Whether you’re continuing the story to stop World War III and take down Makarov, taking on the many Spec Ops or survival missions, or just ranking up in multiplayer, Modern Warfare 3 proves to be the complete package for fans. From the main menu, you have three different options to choose from, so I thought I would separate my review into three sections as well:CampaignModern Warfare 3 doesn’t really differ from the previous COD...

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Review 0

It should come as no shock that Modern Warfare 3 hasn’t strayed far from the formula established by its predecessors. What may shock you, however, is how much the entire campaign’s structure feels like Infinity Ward was going down a checklist of set-pieces and scenes that they felt they had to include. Many times during the campaign, I caught myself thinking, “They are clearly trying to evoke, dare I say retread, a particular mission from one of the last two games.” The problem is none of the lev...

Excellent package if you are a CoD fan. 0

I'm not a die-hard CoD fan but I can appreciate the formula that Activision has perfected when it comes to fast paced fps combat. I especially like the fact that I can rent this game since it has no online pass required for multiplayer. That being said long time fans who just want more CoD should not hesitate to purchase this because it really is a great package. Everything else I could type here you already know. It looks like CoD, it sounds like CoD and it play's like CoD. I guess what I'm try...

The Old Mustache and Mohawk Still Kick Some Ass 0

Nobody seems to believe me, but I do not lie when i say that i enjoy the story of Modern Warfare more then almost any other game. Sure its dumb and crazy but there is something that appeals to the little boy in all of us when you follow a group of just ridiculously hardened bad asses around the world beating up equally cool Russians. If you still are following me I can reassure you that MW3 has not forgotten us fans, the character building is even stronger this time around, though while you don'...
