His review of CoJ:BiB was way too negative. I really loved this game and fully believe this is better than fucking wolfenstein.

#2 Posted by Herreno (332 posts) - 3 years, 8 months ago

Yep.

Your OPINION is correct

Jeff's OPINION is wrong.

Yeah, after reading your post everything starts to make sense to me.

Edit:
Aww... you edited your post :/ Oh well, "sdfsdf" made as much sense as your new post.

#5 Posted by cdfishman (259 posts) - 3 years, 8 months ago

haven't tried wolfenstein yet, but with my experience with COJ: BIB Jeff seemed spot on.

I dont agree with everything though, majoras mask is still an awesome game.

#6 Posted by Walreese55 (460 posts) - 3 years, 8 months ago
@TooWalrus: you forgot to say "bai"...rude prick. @cdfishman: I don't agree that the action is bland and his score of 3 out of 5 is way too low based on his review. I'm not bitter or anything, don't know why I would be, but i felt like I needed to put it out there. If you don't agree with me, whatever, but from my experience, the zelda series sucks ass. ; )

Learn how to elaborate.  How did you feel he was off the mark?

#8 Posted by pornstorestiffi (4851 posts) - 3 years, 8 months ago

Played the demo, and hated it. But thats my opinion.

#9 Posted by JacobForrest (307 posts) - 3 years, 8 months ago

I thought his review was accurate, though I think I enjoyed the game more than he did.

#10 Posted by Droop (1689 posts) - 3 years, 8 months ago

Oh no! Now Jeff will be fired :(

#11 Posted by Novyx (479 posts) - 3 years, 8 months ago

I only tried the demo, and it seems like a fun western rental. I imagine the online is intolerably slow. I love the cover system, though.

#12 Posted by JoelTGM (5584 posts) - 3 years, 8 months ago

I really liked the game, 3/5 sounds low though, I'd give it a thumbs up 4/5.

what do you mean by slow?  slow-paced?  because it's not, at least not on PC.

I think people tend to forget the concept of opinions these days.

It's a good thing they didn't take that Call of Juarez advertising package for the site.  Otherwise, this could be a rather hairy situation!

#16 Posted by PeasForFees (2407 posts) - 3 years, 8 months ago

Cover system was below average and Jeff was right, it was an average shooter, you should learn to elaborate on your thoughts otherwise you come off as a moron who doesn't deserve to be listened to

Online is decent, as far as connectivity and fun goes. I liked the cover too; it made me wonder why it got so much flak for being awkward.

It's an opinion. Do you want reviews to come with a disclaimer at the bottom saying: "The views and opinions expressed here might not match those of the reader"? Come on...

#20 Posted by Ghostiet (4751 posts) - 3 years, 8 months ago

The problem with Call of Juarez is that it's really hard to review - the start is crap, the "tutorial", corn-hiding and shooting horseback feels awkward and like it's straight from a budget game. After that, the game kicks into the right trail and it's almost pure win, but some ideas feel a bit underdeveloped.

Besides, only Nemesis cares about stars. It's all about the reviews here - there are plenty of games when in the review you can feel so much entusiasm mixed with a bit of disappointment which can't be reflected in stars.

I bought it and enjoyed it all of the way through, there were even some moments that made me lol,I never tried the multiplayer, but I beat the single player game.I don't review games so I don't know how many "stars" it should have gotten, but I really liked it so.....

#23 Posted by TrueEnglishGent (3680 posts) - 3 years, 8 months ago

Having played through the game myself I did enjoy it, especially considering I'm not keen on that time in history. But it was a very solid game, if a little rough around the edge.

I thought it was "if you don't agree with what I say your wrong" isn't that how it works?

He was pretty positive about the game wasn't he? I thought it was a really good game too, and I don't really remember Jeff saying it wasn't?
#29 Edited by MattyFTM (13813 posts) - 3 years, 8 months ago

Did you read Jeff's review of it? It was very positive. Sure, he pointed out it's flaws, but he was largely positive about the game, and gave it a decent score. And at the end of the day, it's just an opinion. You can't expect Jeff's taste in games to line up perfectly with yours.

This is GB. Most people here don't like people bitching about review scores. I'm one of them.

#35 Posted by Breadfan (6056 posts) - 3 years, 8 months ago

Why do people take review scores so personally?  Jeff's review is his opinion of the game, that is why you must take every reviewer's review with a grain of salt

#37 Posted by Scooper (7880 posts) - 3 years, 8 months ago

Who gives a flying fuck about 'scores' given to games. Read the review and talking about the points he raised in it. If you're going to argue about review scores go to Gamespot and whine why a game 'was given a 9.1 when it clearly is a 9.6+, reviewer biased to give such low score???'.

#38 Edited by Ineedaname (4319 posts) - 3 years, 8 months ago

The dude's not commented since he made that post, I think he's realised what he said now.
And how it's Jeff's opin.....ah feck it sure he knows.

#39 Posted by Chirotera (51 posts) - 3 years, 8 months ago

You should have taken the time to think about this and instead said, "I do not agree with Jeff's review," rather than coming out and saying "it's off the mark." Sorry you're butt-hurt, but that's your own fault for being unable to enjoy games and leaving it at that, not Jeff's, for giving his more informed opinion on a game.

For instance, I enjoy the Dynasty Warriors series, even though it consistently receives scores that indicate it's rather low quality. Do I usually agree with these reviews? Yes! But it doesn't stop me from still finding my own enjoyment out of the game.
