I ask, because Call Of Juarez: The Cartel releases on July 19, 2011, and I don't think I've heard a peep out of anybody in regards to this installment. It seems like it could be an awesome game, but at the same time, the lack of coverage, or anything, has me a little worries for its quality.
So, are you purchasing The Cartel on release, waiting for the bargain bin, or avoiding altogether?
Call of Juarez: The Cartel
Game » consists of 9 releases. Released Jul 19, 2011
The Cartel is the third game in Ubisoft's Call of Juarez franchise, this time in a modern setting.
Who's jumpin' on Call Of Juarez: The Cartel?
Last time i heard about it was from IGN. They had an article about the multiplayer, saying something about it beeing unfinished. And i have not seen anything from the game myself other than a few screenshots. For all i know it could be a hidden gem, but i really don't think so... Something is wrong here for sure.
Aren't they making it like the Dog the bounty hunter thing set in modern times? I wish they would have kept to the old western theme.
It looked like it had a unique setting but I have no real idea what the focus of the game is.
From the trailers and gameplay it could have a strong single player with moral choices, but the whole 3 player thing could suggest a F.3.A.R style coop experience or it could go for the CoD online focus.
I'll wait for the reviews but I am also skeptical of its quality due to the lack of coverage.
I enjoyed Call of Juarez 2 a lot. But the next year i played Red Dead Redemption, and i don't think i can tolerate the mediocrity of the Call of Juarez games anymore
I'm definitely interested, but not enough to pay full price. I'll wait and see
I don't think people realise how important this questions is.Is that the one with Laddergoat?
Not necessarily, the game itself will advertise when news outlets cover the controversy in how the game is portraying the violent "war on drugs" (aka the recent screw up by the ATF on allow/giving guns over to drug cartel members in hope of catching the big fish), heck when the games premise was publicly revealed some southern states and Mexico looked to have the game banned from store shelves since it "depicts a false violent version of their cities and people"Wait, this comes out in a week? I don't think I've heard a single thing about it since it was announced. Not a good sign...
Edit- BTW I for one am going to be playing this day one, really enjoyed Bound in Blood (only have PS3 so didn't have a chance to play the first)
They went from having a unique different game to another generic present day first person shooter. I thoroughly enjoyed Bound in Blood but I don't see anything special here especially after the preview IGN did where they said online was basically broken although I believe there could be some humor in how broken the one game mode was where you tried to drive a car somewhere but it was so easy to kill the driver that they were constantly switching drivers.
I saw a gameplay video a couple of weeks back and imo it looked terrible.
I've just looked up the link and it seems like ubisoft's pulled the video;

Maybe they realised that showing people the game wasn't doing them any favours.
@Mikemcn: The guy who put that footage up is refusing to put up any more because 'this game is very poor and i refuse too continue playing it.'. Good sign.
You know a game is bad when the pirate who has managed to get his hands on a bootleg copy doesn't even want to continue playing it.@Mikemcn: The guy who put that footage up is refusing to put up any more because 'this game is very poor and i refuse too continue playing it.'. Good sign.
@MisterChief said:Yea but that same dude also played through most if not all of the harry potter game and the gameplay in the video cant possibly be worse than that. You know a game is bad when the pirate who has managed to get his hands on a bootleg copy doesn't even want to continue playing it.@Mikemcn: The guy who put that footage up is refusing to put up any more because 'this game is very poor and i refuse too continue playing it.'.
