Campo Santo was established in September 2013. Its founders are:
Jake Rodkin, Sean Vanaman (both lead designers and writers on The Walking Dead, Season 1), Nels Anderson (lead designer on Mark of The Ninja), and artist Olly Moss, best known for his redesigns of classic movie posters. Chris Remo (formerly of Double Fine) joined Campo Santo in February of 2014.
They developed Firewatch with Panic for PC, Mac and Linux which was released worldwide on February 9, 2016.
Development for the game officially began in January 2014, with an originally planned release date sometime in 2015. The official release was announced on the game's development blog with further work "polishing, optimizing, writing, and developing the last bits of the game" also announced.
Firewatch was released to a relatively good reception, receiving positive scores across the board. It has drawn comparisons to other adventure-based, story-driven games such as Gone Home and Dear Esther.
Campo Santo also release a quarterly journal, the Campo Santo Quarterly Review. The journal is edited by London-based freelance writer Duncan Fyfe. THe Journal explores wider topic in video game development and exclusively announced Firewatch.
