    Done!

Wait, is it still 2012 in Canada?

I think it makes sense to delay the GOTY awards until the hype from the late titles has passed. The Finnish Game Awards were recently too. GOTY as decided by voters was awarded to Clash of Clans which just happens to be Finnish. At least non-voter-decided Finnish Game of the Year was rightly given to Legend of Grimrock.

Well, if hype can become a factor in your decision of GOTY then you're not a very credible establishment in the first place. Also, your last sentence doesn't make sense AT ALL!

@ravenlight: I guess hockey doesn't survive the cold, harsh turn of the century.

hope those come across as metal horns, I suck at those things.

Also funny, that vote is being sponsored by a company owned by best buy, which is distinctly not Canadian.

The Finnish Game Awards had different categories, including Game of the Year and Finnish Game of the Year, as in a game developed in Finland. The former (Clash of Clans) was decide by a vote, the latter (Grimrock) was not.

But I think hype (maybe not the appropriate word?) will be a factor either way. Comparing games fresh in your memory to games you really last played over 10 months ago is hard is what I'm trying to say.

Man, FIFA Soccer 12 won (Canadian) GOTY for 2012, beating out Deus Ex: HR, Assassin's Creed: Revelations, Super Brothers: Sword & Sworcery EP and Fight Night Champion.

Also, is it odd that most of their sponsors are video game developers?

I feel like that is odd.
