360 degree combat system? Y for counter? X to attack? A to manoeuvre? Looks like they're not just 'inspired by', but more directly imitating Batman. The second part even has Captain America punching enemies when they're down for instant takedowns.

The combat was just one part of what made that game great though and hopefully they realise that. Looks decent if unspectacular so far. Environment looks a little sterile and characterless so far and that, along with the atmosphere it contributed, was what really pushed Arkham from good to great.

And Arkham Asylum just had an altered version of Assassin's Creed's combat. It's called iteration.

Heavily altered - this can hardly be called iteration if it's identical (although the deflecting projectile attacks back at enemies seems neat).

But hey, I totally agree with Brad and him saying that Arkham had the best 3rd person melee combat of any game in recent times, so if people are going to copy, why not do so from the best.

Looks decent, and I dig the combat animations. The fact that the characters look like they're standing on thin air because shadows don't "connect" to the character is a little distracting, but I'm just being picky.
