It seems that cartoons were much better when I was growing up. I'm not sure if there truly is a declining quality, or if it's just the nostalgia talking, but I can't even fathom enjoying most of the new cartoons out on these networks today. In my eyes, both networks were fucking awesome in the day, but which one do YOU think was better?
Nickelodeon had shows like Rocko's Modern Life, The Ren and Stimpy Show, and Aaahh!!! Real Monsters to name a few. Cartoon Network had Dexters Laboratory, Johnny Bravo, and Powerpuff Girls, for example. It also had all that anime. Although there are many, many more quality shows back then. Which shows were your favorite?

Cartoon characters are personas from cartoons, which are animated moving sequences that are usually drawn but can be computer animated and can come from television, movies, anime or even the web. They can be humans, animals, or even things usually not thought of as living.
Which network was better? 1990's Nickelodeon or 1990's Cartoon Network?
What about 1990's WB? Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, Batman: The Animated Series, I spent half my childhood watching those shows. Of course Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network were great too. I loved Rocko's Modern Life (I think my life is even starting to parallel the show) and Dexter's Laboratory.
yeah Nick.

Man, this is actually hard. I would go with 90s Cartoon Network for the weird awesomeness that was Dexter's Lab (not to mention Toonami back when it was a daily programming block), although 90s Nick was also totally awesome as well.
Too bad both networks kind of suck ass now; Cartoon Network especially with all this real life bullshit and imported Canadian junk like Total Drama Island.

"Nick Rocko's Modern Life Rugrats Ahh Real Monsters Invade Zim Cartoon Network Toonami Dexter's Lab Ed, Edd, and Eddy Johnny Bravo "
That made me so nostalgic dude! Why! Why did you do that!?
Well actually, this entire threa makes me feel nostalgic, and I'm only 14!
@AjayRaz Dont be bummed we had 1990's ytv who had a mix of all that plus old school zone with snitch." What about 1990's WB? By the time my hometown started getting Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network, it was 1996 (yeah, I lived out in the boonies of Wyoming), so I missed out on a lot of the cartoons that would have probably appealed to me more at a younger age that aired on Nickelodeon. Actually Cartoon Network became one of my most regularly watched channels back then for Toonami and some of its original shows like Dexter's Laboratory.
CN also had some real stinkers, though. How did Cow & Chicken get greenlit, for god's sake?
I think the only cartoon on Nickelodeon I've ever enjoyed was Invader Zim, but that didn't start airing until after the '90s were over.
Neck and neck! I always thought Nicks cartoons were dull as hell. Voted Cartoon Network.
EDIT:
Frank has a point, though. Batman The Animated Series is probably the best cartoon ever made.
i remember when cowboy bebop and trigun actually played at a reasonable hour on CN back in the day. paired with FLCL, sealab, and space ghost coast to coast there were good times indeed!
We didn't get a satellite dish until 1996, so Nick was pretty bad by then. I really liked the Animaniacs and Pinky & the Brain more than anything, but I also enjoyed Dexter's Lab and Courage the Cowardly Dog, so I voted CN.
SPOILER ALERT --- Jeez! :P" Ed Edd and Eddie was good. You know they JUST this year made a TV movie? The show had been off the air for years, and they got all of the original cast back and use all the old animation, it was awesome. You finally see Edd's big brother. "
I missed it on CN and was waiting to obtain it digitally. It was my favorite non-AS show on that channel for a long time.
