A way to save my game?

Is there a way to save in Castle Crashers?  I see the auto "saving.." text every now and then everytime I play but in every instance I start a new game I have to go from the beginning..  Kind of annoying I can never continue off from my last play..  or am i missing something here?

It saves pretty frequently, everytime you get to a new area at least. You do have to start the the beginning of that area each time though, just the way it is. They're generally short though, so it makes sense, plus its more XP.

well i get to a point where it says "saving" near the bottom on its own...

But my problem is my guys i use all end up going back to level 1.. So... I'm not really getting more xp lol..
