Castlevania : Lord of Shadow tells the tale of a man named Gabriel, on a quest to obtain a mask from the lords of shadow to resurrect a loved one. Details outside of this are scarce but it is safe to assume this entry in the series will take our new protagonist to the same familiar haunt we know and love as Castlevania in search of the mask.
Gameplay
Castlevania : LoS will feature the same free form 3D action combat as made popular by games such as Devil May Cry and God of War. Gabriel will use his whip which is conveniently hidden inside of his large crucifix to slay all manner of demons, werewolves, giant golems, and other baddies typically slayed by vampire hunters. The impressive fights against golems seem to be a focal point for the trailers released. Gabriel's ability to take down these collossal foes may be a key part of the story as several of the enemies were showcased.
Development
Originally unveiled at E3 2008 as simply Lords of Shadow with a brief teaser no other details were shown of the game for nearly a year. LoS eventually wound it's way into Kojima Productions web teaser for E3 2009 in way of the all-important mask though the viral marketing campaign was confusing to say the least leading many gamers to believe the mask was involved in a Metal Gear Solid Raiden spin-off. During E3 Trailer 2 was unveiled and it was revealed that MercurySteam would be aided by Hideo Kojima himself in the development of the game which was now formally part of the Castlevania franchise.
Cast
To compliment the brilliant writing and directing skills that will be brought to the table by the addition of Hideo Kojima on the Castlevania Lords of Shadow team an all-star cast in billed for the game. Including video game alum Patrick Stewart, 28 Weeks Later's Robert Carlyle, Harry Potter's Jason Isaacs, and Californication star Natascha McElhone.

An action-adventure game published by Konami and developed by MercurySteam. The game will be released in 2010 for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. It has been revealed that it will be part of the Castlevania series by Hideo Kojima at E3 2009
