To be written and directed by Saw co-creator James Wan.
The guys who created the original Saw seemed like decent film makers, unlike the guys who keep squeezing out the sequels.

Well, it should be creepy. Is that Alucard? (I'm no goods with the Castlevanias)

Wan seems to know what he's talking about too, should be good.

Please don't fuck this movie up.  I love the Castlevania games.

There's absolutly no way this movie is not gonna suck. the IP is risky and barely adaptable to a movie screen without being stupid.

This is only what, the third or fourth time that a Castlevania movie has tried getting off of the ground?  Thankfully the version that Paul W.S. Anderson had in the works fell through.  It sounded like it would have turned out terrible.

What? When did this stop being Paul WS Anderson's blatant and bland retelling of Bram Stoker's Dracula?

@Eirikr: Some time ago, actually.  I don't have any links handy, but the project as headed by Anderson reportedly fell apart and was scrapped.

@Hailinel: Ah, I seem to remember that now. But I guess I had just assumed he was going to try and produce it again later.

This Wan guy seems to be taking the Eastern translation of a Western concept a bit too literally, going by the whip and katana wielding protagonist on that promo art. But at least I feel this new project has the potential to be 'interesting' at best, as opposed to the previous version's best being vomiting up chunks of my own brain.

I pretty much agree with this. I'm a big fan of Castlevania, but I have no doubt about how much this movie will suck. Considering the people working on it, I doubt it will be at an Uwe Boll level of awfulness, but it still won't be good.

As far as I know, the story is focused on the Belmonts.  So, that has to be one of them.  Simon?  Richter?

I think the whip (Vampire Killer)  in hand gives that away.

@TwoOneFive:
To be honest, none of the Saw films were good at all. :p

I wish them luck, and I seriously hope they don't spoil this great franchise. :(

The movie is being produced by Paul W.S. Anderson, who was originally going to direct until he decided to make a fourth Resident Evil movie instead.  James Wan is also responsible for making Dead Silence, that horrificly bad movie with the puppets.

Basically, this movie is full of failure so far...and it doesn't look like it'll be getting any better with the rumor mill of possible actors floating around *cough*ORLANDO BLOOM*cough*.

Glad to see it up and running, like Kotaku said it's kind of a miracle seeing how this movie was dead for a while.

I would like to point out to everyone that James Wan also directed Death Sentence which is a terrible, terrible, teeeeeerrible joke of a film. This movie is going to suck.
