So I want to get Catherine as I really enjoyed Persona 3 and 4 (even if I haven't finished either yet, they are really long) but it sort of looks like a... sexual game (which it is), doesn't it? I mean, I play my games in the lounge room in which my family can see and even though my parent wont be telling me not to play the game I'd imagine it would be really awkward to play in front of people. Do you guys think I should just forget about it and has anything like this happened to you before?

It's really not that sexual. There are a few scenes that might be a little awkward but for the most part you really don't have much to worry about.

Eh. There's a couple awkward scenes with Vincent and Cat in the very beginning, but you should be in the clear after that as long as you dont mind the swearing.

Oh, and never check the pictures Catherine sends you on your phone. lol.

It's less the sexual themes and more the fact that they are anime characters in sexual situations.  For some reason, it seems most of America finds that fucked up and perverse.

Honestly there is nothing in Catherine that is worse than a PG-13 sex scene. They (Atlus) may have been playing up the sex stuff in the promo material, but honestly it is really tame and nothing that I would personally feel uncomfortable playing in front of my parents.

Just to keep the chorus going, there's really nothing in the game that's too overt.  Except maybe the boss for Night 3...

I'm lucky enough to have the utmost privacy when playing videogames, but I see where you're coming from. There are definitely some scenes and dialogue in Catherine that would probably embarrass you if your family walked in. However, I really enjoyed the game. So I'm going to quote a previous poster:
