Catwoman, real name Selina Kyle, first appeared in Batman #1 of late Spring in 1940. She was created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger, to be the supposedly woman double of Batman. Through many years of re-writing and costume changes Catwoman has become (somewhat of) a tool to Batman, acting as a hero or villain whenever needed too. Throughout her various appearances in comics, games, and cartoons Catowman has undergone many costumes changes, but her costume almost always consists of a spandex, leather or latex catsuit which is usually in black (although has appeared in other colours such as purple or blue), and regularly consists of a hood with cat ears protruding from the top. She may also wear goggles, gloves or boots.

Despite the fact that there are many different versions of Catwoman, the most remembered is Selina Kyle. Selina is a gifted and accomplished athlete with heightened acrobatic prowess. She was trained by the Armless Master in martial arts and by Wildcat in boxing and street-fighting. She has dated Bruce Wayne (alias Batman) on and off, both as Selina Kyle, and as Catoman. She is a clever and resourceful fighter, known for precise, agile attacks and speedy getaways. Her combat skills are augmented by her cat-like speed, reflexes, balance, and flexibility. Catwoman is also known as a master thief possessed of unsurpassed stealth and cunning. An expert at heists, she is Gotham City's finest cat-burglar.

    Early Life

Born as the daughter of Brian and Maria Kyle Seliena and her sister Maggie were brought up into an abusive household. After the death of her mother Selina became the focus of her fathers rage who despised her due to Seliena’s likeness to her mother. After the death of her father Selina and Maggie ended up in Juvenile Hall.

At the age of 13, Selina stole enough money from the hall administrator who she discovered had been embezzling funds. With the money in hand the crook safely in the hands of the police Selina once again headed out into the streets. In the old art of Gotham Selina met Mamma Fortuna in an area known as Ally Town. It was here that Selina learned how to steal. Selina eventually ran away, accompanied by her friend Sylvia due to the treatment they suffered. With no money to support them they began to find work as child prostitutes.

    Batman: Arkham City

Early promotional material for the game Batman: Arkham City depicted Catwoman and lead to fan speculation that she would be a secondary character available in a hypothetical co-op mode for the game. It has since been revealed that there is no co-op mode but that Catwoman will be a playable character for am estimated 10% of the total game content.

In the game Hugo Strange has taken the possessions of all super-villains admitted to Arkham City and placed them within a confiscation vault, and Catwoman enters the city looking to plunder the vault. During her theft she is captured by Two Face who has taken control of the Arkham City courthouse and suspends her above a tank of acid. After flipping a coin to decide whether to drop her in or not, Two Face concludes that she shall receive a fair trial within the court. At this point Batman breaks into the courthouse, incapacitating Two Face's minions. Angered, Two Face flips a coin to decide whether he should shoot Catwoman, but before he can fire he discovers that she managed to untie herself in the confusion and together she and Batman defeat him. After a brief conversation with Batman, Catwoman disappears from the area, attempting once again to steal anything of value from the city for herself.

In terms of gameplay Catwoman is faster than Batman and fights with a more graceful and agile moveset. She can also fight using bolas, caltrops and the whip which she keeps with herself at all times. Additionally, Catwoman will have the ability to use 'thief vision' which allows her to view items in the immediate area which may be of value to her.

    Batman: Arkham Knight

Prior to the events of Batman: Arkham Knight, Catwoman is hired by Edward Nigma, the Riddler, to supposedly steal an energy source for one of his contraptions. This turns out to be a trap, as she is taken hostage by the Riddler in his plan to lure Batman once again into his deadly game of mental oneupsmanship.

During the events of the game, Batman finds her in an abandoned orphanage where the Riddler has set up his base of operations. She is trapped inside with a bomb collar on her neck primed to explode if she were to leave the area without having its 9 locks disarmed. Whenever Batman solves enough riddles throughout Gotham, he has to come back to the orphanage and work together with Catwoman to overcome increasingly intricate puzzles and beat down more of Riddler's robots. Completing these challenges earns them keys to unlock Selina's bomb collar.

Upon solving enough riddles, Catwoman earns her freedom, but not before teaming up once again with Batman to face down Nigma in his robot power suit and a gang of his robots. The Riddler escapes just as he is about to be defeated, hiding away in a locked down area of the orphanage that can only be accessed once Batman solves all of the riddles in the city.

When Gotham is cleared of riddles, Batman faces the Riddler once more, but is seemingly beaten once Nigma programs his mechanic minions to counteract all of the Dark Knight's attacks. Catwoman comes to his rescue, and for one last time, they team up to put an end to Riddler's game.

Before delivering Riddler to the GCPD, Selina and Bruce share their final moment together with a kiss, with Bruce saying his goodbyes and declaring they won't see each other again despite her wishes.
