I'd never thought of Fred Flintstone as being a caveman before. For one thing, cavemen don't generally speak intelligently, if at all. This blew my mind! To make this thread discussionable, what obvious things did you never realise about cavemen?
Caveman
Concept »
A stereotypical prehistoric human, usually clad in animal skins and rather violent. Does not always live in a cave.
Fred Flintstone's a caveman?!
"A stereotypical prehistoric human, usually clad in animal skins and rather violent. Does not always live in a cave."
Well he is a human, wears animal skins and is violent. He lives in a cave-like dwelling, but you could call it a house. Yeah, he's a caveman. Less of a caveman than Captain Caveman, but still.
Doesn't Captain Caveman live in a van? Also, is he clad in animal skins or naked and just very hairy? And, is it okay for three teenage girls to be roaming around the country in a van with a naked hairy old guy?
@penguindust: The van does have a cave at the top. And he has a animal skin cape. And yeah... Those girls know what they're doing.
George Jetson is from the future?!
Birdman is a man that's also a bird!?!
I still support the theory that Fred Flinstone and the rest of the show takes place in the exact same time as the Jetsons. It's a dystopian future where the upper class (Jetsons) live in towers above the sky while the lower class (Flinstones) live on the ground.
That crossover episode where the Jetsons visit the Flinstones? It wasn't a time machine. It was an elevator.
Based on Evolution Theory Fred Flinstone cannot be a caveman becomes caveman were not around until after the dinosaurs went extinct. Fred Flinstone hungs out with dinosaurs so obviously Hannah Barbara knew something some of the leading scientist did not.
On my personal thought Fred Flinstone is a John Goodman.
Y'know, everyone's gonna call you crazy, but I'm kind of with you. I've watched the show plenty of times, and understood the fact that he is a prehistoric human that lives in a cave, but never really thought of him as a caveman. Weird.
@theacidskull: Stop breaking the fourth wall Kevin Spacey ahhhhhh!

It's not even a cave, it's a house made of rocks. If society has progressed enough that people are living in houses, they're not cavemen.
