Hey, remember that otherHTC phone I talked about and was so excited to get in June? Well turn's out HTC tore out my heart and threw it on the ground by deciding to release it on Sprint instead of T-Mobile. But I have the next best thing apparently. The HTC Touch Pro2.

For $349.99 with a two-year contract (expensive, I know), I can get the coolest phone I've ever seen. But, come December (when my contract expires), I'm almost guaranteeing that the price will drop to somewhere around $199 ($349 is just too much). From the early reviews on Engadget and Gizmodo, the phone is outstanding. I only wish this thing ran on Android, but from the sound of it, this enhanced version of Windows Mobile 6.1 is just as good as every Android phone on the market.

This isn't a very productive blog entry. Just sort of like a reminder of the phone I want.

P.S. The Engadget review in video form. This is what really sold me on the phone.

Looks cool. I have T-Mobile too and I really need a new phone. But you're right, too expensive.

@JJWeatherman: Can't stay that expensive though, can it? The Palm Pre and iPhone 3Gs are both $199, and it looks like T-Mobile has a winner with the Touch Pro2, but not at $349.

In order for this thing to sell, it needs to be the exact same price as the competitor.

WM 6.1 is dog shit. I've been using a Samsung SCH-i760 for the last year and a half or so. Initially it had 6.0, then I upgraded to 6.1 which was marginally better. It's slow, buggy, and unstable. Avoid it if possible - the device may be fantastic but Windows Mobile is crap.

@MB: I've never been a fan of Windows Mobile either. My old T-Mobile Dash was a slow, clunky piece of shit that could barely do anything without crashing. But, HTC can do and has done wonders to poor phone OS' in the past, and I have high hopes that they've done the exact same with this one.

Besides, rumor has it that HTC will be giving a free update to Windows Mobile 6.5 with the purchase of the Touch Pro2, and WM6.5 looks incredible. Now, looks definitely can be deceiving but very promising for a very early build.
