Ceres Space Colony is a research center that appears in the beginning of Super Metroid. Samus takes the baby metroid she found at the end of Metroid II here to be studied. She returns later in response to a distress signal.

Overview

Ceres Space Colony serves as the setting for an early encounter with Ridley.

Ceres Space Colony is a research center that appears in the beginning of Super Metroid. Samus Aran brings an infant metroid here to be studied. However, shortly after leaving the colony she receives a distress signal and returns. Upon her arrival, she discovers that all of the researchers are dead. Deeper in the colony, she encounters her nemesis Ridley, who has the infant metroid clasped in his talons.

Samus then battles Ridley until either she has shot him 100 times or her energy has fallen below 30 points. After either of these conditions have been met, Ridley flies away with the metroid in hand and the colony's self-destruct sequence starts, giving Samus one minute to escape. Samus manages to escape the exploding colony and follows Ridley to the planet Zebes.
