    Background

Chaps is an NPC in the Gears of War universe. He's an older gentleman who owned a gas station in a Stranded community.

    Gears of War

Chaps makes his first appearance in the second act of the original Gears of War. The Gears need a vehicle to make their way into the imulsion factory, and Dom suggests they cash in a favor from Franklin, a former friend living in a Stranded community. Franklin agrees to give them the vehicle, but Marcus and Dom must retrieve it from Chaps' Gas Station.

The Gears eventually battle their way to the gas station. Not expecting the Gears would make it past the Kryll, Chaps does not have the Junker gassed up. One of the larger firefights of the game takes place while the Gears and Chaps must defend the vehicle from the oncoming locusts. Though Chaps and the Gears make it out alive, a Boomer blows up the gas station while they were getting away.

    Gears of War 2

In Gears of War 2, Chaps can be seen in the opening cinematic cradling a fellow stranded. Additionally, Chaps is one of the "meatflags" in the Submission game mode.

    Trivia

    • He is one of only two Stranded to be featured in both Gears of War and Gears of War 2.
    • He is invincible during gameplay in both games.
    • Chaps uses a Gnasher shotgun while defending the gas station in the original game.
