Charon is the largest of Pluto's three moon. It was discovered on June 22 1978 by American astronomer James W. Christy. Charon is about half the size of Pluto which a diameter of 750.02 miles (1207 km) and is covered in frozen water. Even though Charon is considered a moon of Pluto it does not revolve around Pluto but instead Pluto and Charon both revole around a center point between them every 6.387 days. The average distance between Charon and Pluto is 12,160 miles(19,570 km)
