    Short summary describing this character.

Cinder is the mutated Ben Ferris, a convicted criminal who in exchange for an early parole (as the brief in-game biography recounts), participated in Ultratech's chemical weapon test. Due to a failed experiment, his body was turned into living flame. If he can defeat Glacius in the Killer Instinct tournament, he will earn his freedom.

RARE's extended biography of Cinder, no longer officially available online, cast a more sympathetic figure of Cinder. He was a small-time criminal, convicted of minor offenses, and was one of many prisoners promised an early parole in order to find "volunteers" for Ultratech's chemical weapons experiments. He remained imprisoned following their experiments and subsequent mutation, only to be released in order to provide a worthy adversary to Glacius. Once again, Cinder is promised his freedom if successful.

Cinder has two "No Mercy" finishing moves (similar to Mortal Kombat's "Fatalities"): the Lava Pool and the Meltdown. His move arsenal consists of other incendiary names, such as the Heatfist, the Heatsink, and the Inferno.

During Killer Instinct's development, Cinder was originally known as "Meltdown".
