Cliffhanger

Overview

A cliffhanger is an ending to a narrative in which either the primary plot threads or the fates of important characters or story elements are left unresolved.  This is generally done with the intent to drive interest in a sequel that will presumably continue forth and resolve the issues left open at the end of the previous game.  However, this resolution does not always come to fruition, most often due to the original titles doing poor sales and thus dashing hopes of the narrative's continuation.
