Clotho is one of the three Fates (Moirae) representing the birth, life, and death of mortals in Greek mythology. Clotho's sister Lachesis governed the length of life and the quality of it, and Atropos governed death. Life is symbolized by the creation of a thread, one thread for each mortal, and Clotho's job is arguably the most important, at least to the ancient Greeks, as she dictates where the mortal will be born.
Clotho's role in various games
In God of War II, after battling Lahkesis and Atropos, main character Kratos finds Clotho, who warns him not to tamper with the threads of life.
In the Shin Megami Tensei series her role and skills have changed over the various sequels, but her association with the power of wind seems stronger in later games.
