I hope Ryan and Patrick get to do the upcoming Quick Look of this. I also hope it is good. I played a lot of Tactics Advance and a good portion of the DS remake of FF3, but other than that I have no experience with this series.

I played the demo and I couldn't be more psyched for this game. It looks better than its predecessor in every way.

@RAStemen: Yeah, FF13 was mediocre at best. But I like what Ive read on this new one. The monster companion stuff seems neat.

As much as I used to absolutely love the Final Fantasy series, I just can't get into this stuff anymore.  Maybe this will change things by adding some new twists.
 
I'm mostly just tired of how overly Japinsane (by new word for the insanity in many JRPGs) everything is.  I'm tired of the pretty boy characters with the same blond hair and angsty attitude.  I'm tired of the female characters that walk around and fight in totally impractical outfits that look like something a stripper might wear.  I'm tired of stories that seem like something out of a drug induced nightmare.

Word, that dude deserves his own game. A cynical ex-pilot who dual wields guns, doesn't give a shit about the gods that rule over him, is basically the best parts of Eddie Murphy, and might just have the deepest connection to the story, yet he's practically ignored in FFXIII. Frickin' shameful.

I'm actually starting to get excited for this game. As much of a disappointment XIII was, I was still really impressed by it, and had a pretty good time with it. I guess I'm a fanboy but Final Fantasy is so beloved to me, that I don't think I'll ever hate an FF game. Can't wait for XV to someday come out too!
