Core Design was a British video game developer located in Derby, England. They were founded in 1988 by a group of former employees of Gremlin Graphics. Eidos bought them in 1996. On May 11, 2006 Eidos announced that Core's assets and staff were sold to Rebellion (Company), while Eidos retained the rights to the Core brand and all of it's IP. They are best known as developer of the Tomb Raider series before the developing reins were handed off to Crystal Dynamics (Company).
